I think the form hates me; there seems to be a missing required field. Unless you managed to get like 6 reservation requests from me

Are you getting an error? I made a change, but shouldn't have broke anything.

I was able to place an order with all the required fields. Make sure you hit the check box for the liability waiver.

Hey all, just wanted to make a quick post for transparency,

First, the waiver.
I added that because, at the end of the day, this is a DIY mod that changes how the vehicle sees the CAN signals. It’s been super reliable in my testing, but since it does tap into vehicle systems, I needed to include a bit of legal coverage. Nothing about how the coupler works has changed — this is just about being upfront and making sure everyone knows what they’re installing.
(If you placed an order before the waiver was added to the site, a copy will be included with your shipment, also attached here. Returns are allowed for this specific reason — minus shipping costs — if you decide not to proceed after reviewing it.)

Second, about the extra payments — seriously, thank you.
A bunch of people sent more than what I was asking to help out, and that really meant a lot. The good news is I’ve officially covered the production costs, so going forward, there’s no need to send anything beyond the listed price. Just want to make sure no one feels like they have to pitch in extra.

I appreciate all the support. Let me know if you need anything or run into any issues with install. While there’s no warranty expressed or implied, hopefully you know by now I’ll help as much as I can — within reason.

So, for those of us just joining, if we order a comma3x and ford harness, plus this coupler, it should be fully functional?
I have a comma in a bolt, does anyone have experience with both to know if it performs about the same in lightning?

I can't answer the second part, but yes, with the custom coupler, it will work the same as it would in the ICE F-150. As far as we are aware, the only reason the lightning is not supported is due to the reflections.

Bolt has way more torque, especially if you are running a fork based on Tim
Wilsons code. Lightning can’t do navigational moves or tight curves. Overall it’s a good experience though.

I got an email from PirateShip.com and thought, I didn't buy any shipping labels lately...

Then I saw Gambino Prints and thought, what did my wife buy...

Then I realized it was Uncle Tony.... 😆 Thanks for sending tracking info!

I wasn't sure what the email notifications would come under lol. That account was originally used when my wife and I did craft tables together.

Quick check-in on the Lightning coupler adapter

I've already sold 31 of the 50 Lightning adapters, The response has been great, and it's clear the demand is real — but I’m trying to figure out my next move before committing to another batch.

There’s always the chance Comma decides to roll out their own version or start bundling one with future kits. If that happens, I don’t want to be sitting on a bunch of extras — but I also don’t want to leave people hanging who still need one.

If you’ve been holding off but still want one, or if you’ve got thoughts on how I should handle the next steps, I’d appreciate the feedback. Just trying to find the right balance between helping the community and not overextending myself.

The design looks great. I'm excited to upgrade to this from the original extended harness solution.

As for your question: How long does procurement, 3D printing and all neccisary assembly functions take (how long from ordering parts to completed adapters)? If it's under 3 weeks I'd just wait to do another batch until you sell all you currently have and take some preorders for your next batch. You'd avoid sitting on bulk inventory and no one should complain about that type of turnaround on a slick custom solution.

The real bottleneck isn’t how fast I can print or assemble—I can knock out 50 cases overnight and finish assembly the next day (assuming I lightly neglect the family).

The bigger issue is balancing the lead time from the PCB house all the way to the end user. Import fees are rough right now, and while I don’t mind sitting on a bit of inventory, I do kind of mind fronting all the cash just to keep them stocked. It’s a tightrope—keeping adapters available for those who need them, without burning myself financially in the process.

I guess the best solution outside of fronting the cash and taking the risk of getting stuck with them. Does anyone have a PCB house inside the US they have worked with before?

Sounds like an MBA class problem. Lots of interdependencies. I personally don't think it would be high on Comma's list of things to do, being such a niche product without a big margin. But you know them far better than I do. I'd consider waiting a week to see if the order rate slows down or speeds up. If it slows down, let inventory go negative before reordering. If it speeds, reorder sooner.
