Worse case you can send them the breakout board as a temporary fix if they're in dire need while waiting. With Amazon Prime, I can get them the next day.

Sounds like an MBA class problem. Lots of interdependencies. I personally don't think it would be high on Comma's list of things to do, being such a niche product without a big margin. But you know them far better than I do. I'd consider waiting a week to see if the order rate slows down or speeds up. If it slows down, let inventory go negative before reordering. If it speeds, reorder sooner.
Yeah, I dont think the likelihood of them fixing it soon is even moderate. I just try to consider all outcomes before moving forward on something. The initial burst in orders was high, but has slowed down. I think there will be some surges on orders as things happen in the Comma community.

The hardest part is, it doesn't make a lot of sense to order less than 50 at a time. There's a very marginal difference in pricing between ordering 50 and anything less than that. The part that really kills, is that there is currently about a 60% import fee because they are coming from China.

The above statement feeds into the reservation idea, its gonna take a good amount of reservations to justify placing another order.

Idk. Im going to have to think about it for a couple days. I promise not to let ya'll down either way, just trying to plan it so everyone is happy with the arrangement.

I find it fascinating that Comma doesn't mention the issue on their site or order page. If I was just coming off a review from a random tech blog and decided to order the device I'd be completely in the dark as to why there is an issue with my Lightning. I know the issue isn't directly their fault but they should at least acknowledge it. The fact that they don't shows how much they're concerned about it.

My guess: they're more likely to sell padded EVA cases or quick release docks for the 3x than dongles to fix the reflection issues.

Either way, thanks @UncleTony.

Actually lightning isn't listed as a supported vehicle by Comma because of this. Only ICE/Hybrid F150.

They also likely don't get any meaningful data from the lightnings since they have the ICE F-150 working. It's a very small group of trucks in comparison and the lightnings use mostly the same parts (where it matters to them).

I had a feeling you'd respond with something like that. Touché.

Sincerely appreciate the confirmation. I still stand by my comment though. My guess is that some wouldn't make the distinction.

I know, I know. I'm the jerk who is always bringing facts and logic into the room. It kills the mood, I'll try to control myself.

For the record, again, you're not wrong. I can take it. My criticism was the purchase process, not the product or service.

Im just trying to be fair. I bash comma A LOT. They are plenty terrible at a lot of stuff . No need to blame them for something that isn’t their fault.

If anyone is moving from the harness extension to the coupler, I could use an extension for testing. If you haven't ordered yet, I can give you a discount on the coupler.

What about doing a deposit or prepaid preorder?

I don't really want to hold onto peoples money while we are waiting to hit an order minimum. PCBWay has an option for me to sell the design through them I may do. I just worry a bit about not being able to personally check the quality and I'm not sure how the case would be handled, they do give the option to upload the case, but IDK if they will print and assemble it.
