I was surprised when I first insured my '22 Lightning - surprised because it was so low.

I believe this will not be the case, at least for Cybertrucks and the Rivians.

Back when I loved those Muscle Cars, but could never buy one because of the high insurance premiums.

I wonder whether the future high cost repairs, and resulting insurance costs, will shrink the possible market for these trucks and drive business to the Lightning?

Ditto on the surprise. Much cheaper insurance than my wife's Mach-E.

Yes -- I was surprised when I replaced a 4-year-old Ford Flex with a new Lightning Lariat, and my insurance went down.

I just checked cause I thought... no way.

My wife's 2019 Mazda CX5 is a little over $1000.
My 1970 F100 is $156
and my 2022 Lightning ER is.... $352.

All same coverage, same mileage allowance.

It is very company dependent. Allstate had horrible rates for my Lightning - almost $2k/year more than my Raptor for the same coverage! Switched to Geico and got much more acceptable rates.

I'm assuming that being mostly an f-150 body is helping because the companies know very well what it costs to repair those.

Got two quotes from my insurance, a 2023 Lightning and 2023 Bronco. Was expecting the Lightning to be cheaper but it was the Bronco that was $600 less per year.

I had ‘22 Audi A6 and replaced my ‘24 Lightning through GEICO and the lightning is $74 cheaper per month.

Yeah, we went from a 2014 F150 to the 23 Lightning, and insurance went up by almost $1000 with Allstate.
I'll try shopping around again this year. But (MA issues) we have 2 accidents on our record (someone else hit us when we still lived in NH, and was 100% their fault, and their insurance paid), so we cannot switch insurance due to accidents on our record. (at $4000+/year for 3 vehicles, I've gotten quotes for half that until they run our records)
