This morning on my way to work, I was stopped at a light and a Rivian pulled up next to me. He looked over and had a stupid grin on his face. Normally I am proud to drive the Lightning, but the truth be told, I felt a little wave of embarrassment flood over me. Like I was driving a flop of a car. He turned right and I went straight.

Got me thinking, Americans tend to live through their cars. Got money, drive a luxury, off-roader a 4X4, adventurous a sports car...... What are you when you drive a cancelled car??

Normally I am proud to drive the Dodge Viper, but the truth be told, I felt a little wave of embarrassment flood over me. Like I was driving a flop of a car. He turned right and I went straight.

I had a Gen1 quad and a Gen2 Tri Rivian. Both were train wrecks. First was repurchased by Rivian for falling apart. 2nd one got traded in for my lightning. The lightning is superior in my experience.

All these threads of anger and shame and dumb stuff over the lightning. I can't take it any more.

It is ALL MY FAULT. I did this to us....

Let me tell you my jinxed history of canceled vehicle ownership. All my vehicles I keep super maintained and with more local work don't rack up too many miles.

2006... Purchased a Gen 1 '06 Honda Ridgeline RTS sitting on the lot as the dealer was choking on it. Great truck, underpowered but over engineered by Honda with good time tested mechanical known engine and transmission components. Oh what's that it got canceled on me.. yup... Paid 25K and 5 years later traded it in and got 19k towards a '12 VW Touareg TDI without a sunroof... Another expensive 50k vehicle noone really understood or wanted sitting on the lot and at 0% interest... BTW That Ridgeline is still running the streets around here and it looks great for its age...

My '12 Toureg tdi was an over engineered mechanical beast tank, but no back up camera due to Japans tsunami. It came with 3 years of oil changes and I even took a 10y 100K bumper to bumper extended warranty because my plan was to keep it that long. Well it got canceled and counter cultured canceled at the same time. First I got a $500 credit, we are sorry we f'ing you. I used that for additional oil changes and maintenance and a broken taillight. Then it was my turn to turn it in after almost 6 and a half years of ownership. I took a bath on that vehicle... Between the extra check Bosch money, we are sorry for F ing you, my return of my extended warranty with sales tax, the buyback amount with sales tax returned and a couple later on other residual amounts for airbag and left over class action money, I drove a vehicle for 6.5 years for $1500.

Oh what to do now... Oh let me order a base '19 Yukon Denali, which doesn't have a sun roof. I figured this is good, years have past since they introduced this body shape in '15 across the GM line and with a well known time tested and tweaked 6.2L V8, true 4WD with hi low locker and a better tuned smooth 10 speed ford/gm joint ventured transmission, how could I go wrong? Well it was a tin can compared to the Touareg but the drive line was phenomenal. Oh shit not again it got cancelled by GM. Oh so now GM wants to do rear independent suspension, mess with the engine and do cylinder deactivation all the way down to 2 cylinders. Make it a tad bigger and get in the end get worse fuel economy. What I am to do with this canceled Yukon? Let me see, since it was what it was in comparison to GMs replacement answer, let me after 5 years and 7 months of ownership receive 48k in trade in for my current '23 XLT ER at the price of 51.5K after all discounts cause they are choking on it as it sits on the lot. What a horrible otd with 48K trade in to off set the sales tax on a 51.5k purchase price.

What am to do now? .... I'm so sorry I caused this issue for all of you...

But wait there's more, I can't lie to all of you... My poor boss, her beloved canceled vehicle and car brand Saturn, Vue AWD V6, powered by the bullet proof Honda V6 engine and transmission that we traded in on her canceled '12 kia Sportage AWD 2.0l turbo gdi that she ran for 11.5 years and received yearly class action falsified fuel economy reimbursement checks for life, after the free annual car inspections... And a a recalled engine waiting to detonate and receiving an engine lifetime warranty... Oh no, what do we do? Let us trade that in on a '23 Kia EV6 AWD wind with tech package that the dealer is choking on... Oh what are these iccu issues that we have not had the pleasure deal with... What a rock solid horrible EV that does V2L and has saved our house in a power outage... Of course this was before me getting the lightning... Oh the humanity.

What am I do do with my almost 2 year old lightning and 3 year old EV6 that we power off our excess solar; that I no longer have to get on the ground and do oil changes; that allows me never to smell gasoline and exhaust in our garage again....

Wait are you still reading this. Oh my poor Raven 7100 watt hybrid lawn mower that doubled as the house back up generator and power supply out in the field. How dare you shut down your american factory and abandoned this product leaving me having to repair the Honda clone generator on my own that was still under warranty... I just hope my EGO zero turn, 2 stage snow blower , which works better than my 30in ariens,the 2000 watt and 400watt power inverters, 18" chain saw, weed wacker, and leaf blower don't get canceled too...

Once again I am truly sorry for jinxing all of us.
