Yea, he's a busy guy. You may have to engage him if other modules need updated and you don't have FDRS, but I have those files too..... I think. Here are the files that I used to upgrade my 2022 SR XLT IPC to have the real time charge rate:

Jesse gave me these and they are for a 2024 IPC which runs the same hardware. Just make sure you have a good battery charger on your truck before you start the update and plan for at least 4hrs with a laptop plugged in to a stable power supply.
Thank you! Yes I do have access to fdrs. I’ve got a big charger but I’m thinking for this I will will hook another battery up with jumper cables and the charger to help it that much more.

That’s unfortunate. Chargers that big are expensive, especially for such a small but nice to have feature.
Just jumper cable to a gasser friend's ICE, it's ugly, but it worked for a few I have done for friends 🤣

I've done plenty of updates via FDRS and used Forscan to make a bunch of mods, but haven't used the MFU feature. Would anyone possibly be able to elaborate, I would love to do this upgrade.

Module firmware update would be my guess. There's a couple screenshots in the zip @ZSC100 posted. If that's all that involved, I might get bored enough tomorrow to give it a try. Have a 75amp power supply that hasn't gotten good and warm lately.

This is a pretty good MFU to cut your teeth on, as long as you keep the 12 volt battery up for 4 hours. If the update is successful and you still don't have charging rate on the IPC it means you have a few more modules that need updates. One of them is the SOBDMC, these are already out OTA updates and you most likely already have them. If not, post back here and we will diagnose.

You need to be proficient with FORScan, have a paid extended license, and use the MFU feature. You also need to be somewhat electrical tech savvy and have a 100A 12v battery charger to sustain the truck for 3hours for the update. If you have all these things, it's totally doable and Jesse or I can give you the firmware files for the IPC.
Thanks. I want to learn forscan so I will learn and practice a lot more before attempting something such as this.

Well got bored tonight. Wish me luck! :crazy:

"The operation is not safe",,, LOL,, it's almost as if they are trying to scare you out of doing MFU :(. Does anyone who has familiarity of FDRS know if these exact same warnings get prompted with FDRS. I've always assumed FORScan just copies everything from FDRS, I'm curious if they added scare tactics to really weed out the less confidents tinkerers?

All that being said, don't be scared. I had a little charger on mine and it failed twice, 2nd time like 3hrs in when my battery got so low the truck started freaking out, lights flickering and all,, I got back from dinner and the batt voltage was 8V,,, Dohhhhhh,,,, All that shit, and it worked on the 3rd try with an 80A automotive roll around charger. Also, let me say, as an electrical engineer, There should be no way to damage anything with failed updates. Since the 90's engineers have figured out how to do checksums and full firmware integrity checks that rely on downloading before ever initiating the actual firmware swap within the processor's memory space. If Ford isn't doing a robust job of this then that is severe negligence on their part. Still we hear about dealers bricking modules and such, it's a bizarre situation we're in with a truck who's manufacturer's strong suite is not software. I'm so glad we have a good community of people curious and willing to push the limits to work on our own shit. I love seeing the overall success of real world owners figuring stuff out. Hack on!

I've had several 6 hr marathon sessions with FDRS on my 23 so takes a lot to scare me. I don't recall FDRS saying "unsafe" but it explicitly says to use a power supply and yet the dealer techs still fail to do so causing issues. Up to 6% so far. Now if Spectrum will quit #*#*%@(# the bed so I can just look on my phone instead of walking out to check the computer. :cwl:

I suspect a lot of legacy mechanics are used to legacy tech and systems including FDRS on older trucks that do updates quickly and they may have had all the same warnings, but they knew Ford was just being conservative so they still ignore to this day. If your firmware is just a small microprocessor, it's no problem, but these days we have sever modules funning full blown real time OSs equivalent to a desktop computer. That takes a while over a busy 500k CAN bus.

I used a 75A power supply/charger when I did my updates, worked fine.

What’s even more retarded is that we have this big ass battery under the floor but ford can’t figure out how to have it supply power while there is an update happening or allow the truck if plugged in to take grid power to keep the 12v side up.

Well took about 5 hours and 20 minutes of angry bumble bees but now have charge rate on IPC. Should be noted that you need the beta Forscan to get the option to update modules. FORScan Software Version 2.4.x Releases and Information, 2.4.19 beta, 2025-09-18 - Ford / Information - CyanLabs Official Community

Power supply pulled 11.5amps from a wall outlet for that whole time and a total of 5.8kWh to keep things happy. Measured 63.5amps going from the charger on my clamp meter. Had a bit of an oh #@# moment after it was done because the dash lit up like a christmas tree and had stop safely now. Took a couple attempts but got all the DTCs cleared except one for the IPC and was able to start/move the truck.

===IPC DTC U2101:00-0A===
Code: U2101 - Control Module Configuration Incompatible

Status (-0A):
- DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Instrument Panel Control Module

===END IPC DTC U2101:00-0A===

Thank you for posting those stats. That's absolutely crazy. It uses that much power.

Oh yeah, I forgot the config memory space is slightly different for the 24 IPC. Here is a cheat sheet I made to correct my truck which I have made a lot of mods to from an EG 311a. If you don't have those mods or features, just don't make those changes from the left column. And if your truck is different than a 2024 XLT SR EG 311a you might want to go over Livinitup's config sheet for a 24. Notice how there is a different tab for 22-23 and 24.

Yeah that was my first thought since my IPC was heavily modified. Was getting late so figured I'd compare things today when I was more awake
