The cost for one time use is 64¢/kwh. At that rate he wouldn’t have to forbid non-Tesla drivers from charging. ?‍?
That is cheap if you want to go where there is no other charger and you happen to have a SC along the way. I'm sure Ford's will be right next door.

Exactly - I will gladly pay a premium for SC access. I would only use them a few times a year and the convenience trumps the cost.

Well he is better than most and now that there is some money on the table, he'll bite. Plus don't diss him too much, we need his chargers if you want to travel far without worry. EA has too many gaps and reliability has been a huge issue compared to a Supercharger.
I am not dissing him, just stating the facts on this one issue. Also the biggest failing I see with EA compared to Superchargers, is the number of plugs at each location. I definitely would like to see Superchargers open to non Teslas, but remain skeptical, until it actually happens.

I guess it depends on the charging infrastructure where you're traveling. I wouldn't pay twice the EA discounted rate unless I had no options.

There is zero chance of Musk getting federal money for opening up his network without ironclad guarantees on rates and accessibility. No way he could say "nope, no more access".

My first extended trip with the F150L will likely be to Bar Harbor, ME in July (~270 miles). Charging infrastructure north of Portland is abysmal. It will be interesting to see if I can get the truck charged in Bar Harbor. There are a few public L2 chargers in town but not enough that I feel comfortable that I'll definitely be able to find one. The closest 150kW charger is in Portand (170 miles away), there's a 62.5kW ChargePoint DCFC slightly closer but there doesn't appear to be any DCFC at all (aside from Tesla) less than 100 miles away. So, yeah, I'll take whatever funding I can get for improving charging on major routes.

Really? I'm not seeing any. Maybe I'm searching incorrectly.

You have to set minimum charge speed to 0 kW and click "coming soon" in the filter menu to see planned and under construction locations.

Ah, got it. I set the minimum to 50kW. Now, if they can just install those by July I'll be set. ?

I certainly thinks it's the best usage of money to expand thru the Interstate Road system to start with, as long distance travel is what is holding back most new EV buyers. DC Fast Chargers in rural towns and areas seems to be something that will come with time, as most in those areas probably live there, and will charge at home.
I, personally, don't need a DC Fast Charger in my town - I'll already be charged when I leave. I need charging while ON THE ROAD to a destination. While it would also be nice for every destination to also have charging, DC Fast Charging is probably not warranted, if you there for some time. A 240v option then works nicely.

Any destination can easily and quickly add 240v charging, that's not really a big 'deal'...it's the conversation around the extremely EXPENSIVE fast charging that is in debate.

If every Walmart had options, this would be less of a concern, or, even better, every DOLLAR GENERAL! They seem to be EVERYWHERE!
Of course, the realy answer lies in at least one GAS STATION owner in each 'area', small town, or region, to see the validity of hosting one of these DC Fast Chargers. When that happens, we'll be less worried, and more free to travel.
