I have been searching for a known, good solution to preventing crap, in my case redwood tree needles, from getting stuck in the gap between the cab and the bed. My old F-150 was pretty full, and I never really got it cleaned out when I sold it when I got my Lightning. I want to be proactive this time!

Does anyone have a product they recommend? I know I can get some rolled foam or something similar and wedge it in there. I was thinking something with some adhesive would be nice, so it is less likely to fly out on the freeway. :)

Thanks!

Cool idea. Since there's some flex between the cab and bed, anything wedged between them will probably stick to one side and slowly rub the paint off the other, unless it's regularly lubricated with banana slug slime. How about a trim strip which attaches to the cab about half an inch above the bed, and overhangs the front edge of the bed? That would at least deflect the needles into the bed for collection or consumption. Sorry I don't know of any specific products, but there are thousands of kinds of plastic extrusions out there.

Cram a pool noodle between the bed and cab just below the height of the top of the bed. That should not fly out and will flex enough to stay in contact with both sides as the gap changes.

Anything you put in there will trap grit and grime, causing wear on the paint (and maybe other stuff), eventually wearing to bare metal, inducing corrosion.

Instead, I would get a cheap pressure washer and use it at lowest necessary pressure a few times a month to clear that space.

This is probably going to be part of your new routine.

I'm not endorsing this particular product... It's just an example of a 3 ft version.

I have one that I use for appliances, ect.

And if you still have your heart set on using foam, I would suggest you measure the gap and check the surface of both the cab and the bed. Get 1/2 the distance thickness of foam times 2.

One sticks to the bed and the other to the cab. Now you have foam rubbing against foam. Not foam on paint.

I wonder if anything you put in will not rub against the paint... unless you put double sided tape and stick it to both the cab and the bed. The part in between would need to be flexible. I'm thinking maybe cut a strip from a very heavy tarp and add tape at each long edge.

Of course removing old double sided tape can be a major challenge if you decide you don't like it.

Also, stuff can still blow in from the sides.

Just cut a pool noodle and wedge it in there.

They make rubber seal strips that are self-adhesive for automotive uses in many sizes.
Basically it is weather stripping.

There are tailgate gap covers:

How about ordering another Ford OEM rubber flap that is already mounted on both sides of the bed between the bed and the cab, and attached (glued?) to the bed corners?

I realize the length will be a bit shorter than the width of the back bed wall, yet if centered in the gap it should cover the majority of the length of the gap. And (obviously) Ford designed this rubber flap to not rub the paint off.
