Seat bottom gets lifted almost all the way up, then push, or bump the seat back into the latch.

Check how it latches with the seatback down. Mine wouldn't latch either and I noticed the plastic tab would get stuck between the bump by the pin (see first pic) and the black bracket (fourth pic). It prevented it from latching completely. I had to bend the bracket a bit.

So, I purchased the mod and installed, seemed to go together easily. But w/the lower seat up, when I release the latch, the upper seat will not release, it feels like it wants to, or is released, but will not come down until I undo the lower seat and begin to lower it, then the upper will drop. Not a big issue, as long as I remember that procedure...A longer "Factory" pull strap would have been helpful.

Agree. I installed this but to be honest, the storage back there is negligible. I do have a Lariat so have an amp and stuff back there from factory. If I had it to do ver again I would ave saved the $.

I just got mine to latch today. Make sure you lift the seat bottom when trying to latch it. Voila!
