Sorry, I’ve had this issue for the last two weeks or so. I plug in my truck that’s at 60-70% and it charges to 85%. But the app shows me it’s at 100% when it concludes its charge. When I get in the truck, the display says 100% until I turn it on. Then it almost always shows me 84%.

I deleted the location and added it again, but the same issue arises. I cannot charge to 100% if I wanted to buy sliding the charging scale over to the right either.

I've noticed my trucks SOC bounce around with the temperature changes, but not by that much. Out of curiosity, are the charge settings the same in the Ford app and SYNC?

Could be data glitches between truck, cloud and app.

Might want to wait before making any other changes.

What platform & version of Ford App?

Check your cell module variation, if this is ok, I'd chalk it down to glitches.

Try charging a bit higher, say 90%, but pay attention as it charges to see if it jumps up to 100% at some point around 85%, or if it just happens at any set charge level.

It happens at any level. Now I can’t charge it up to 100 because the app thinks the truck is at 100%

Yeah they’ve been the same for over 3 years now at all locations

You need a scan tool that has the capability to scan for it, it should have module variation in the name.

There is a battery module failure that doesn't display any error messages on the IP. In my truck, everything looked normal if I only charged to 85%. If I tried charging more than 85% it would display 100% until the truck was started at which point it would immediately drop to about 87%.

My dealership had a very hard time diagnosing the bad module. Since their were no failure messages or DTCs they were reluctant to run a battery module health test, which is what ultimately is how they figured it out.

I don't know if this is your problem but thought it worth mentioning. I suggest attempting to charge to 100% and observing the SOV behavior after start. If you can't set 100% in the app you may have luck doing it in the truck.

I’m out here now. Turned it on and it said 100%. I unplugged it while the truck was on and the display just changes to 83%

What year Lightning? What size battery? Which trim level? Might want to update your profile, it still says that you are in a 2011 Ecoboost.

I would get your truck to the dealer ASAP. The battery and high-voltage system is covered by the 8yr/100,000 mile warranty so it's safe to assume you're under 100,000 miles. Take a cell phone video of the problem in your driveway so that they can see the problem. Make sure that they have the ability to Level 2 charge so they can replicate the issue. Don't let the dealer pull the "we couldn't replicate" BS and give you the truck back without fixing it.

My opinion, unless you know what you're doing and just want to self diagnose for your own curiosity, feel free. If you start busting out your Mongoose and FDRS or ForScan, you can get yourself into something deeper and give the dealer an excuse to mess with you. Just make an appointment and get it fixed on Ford's dime.

2023 lariat 511a extended range. 55,000 miles or so

So I put it on the charger to 100% again and as you can see from the time on these screeens hots it went from 83-100% in minutes. The truck thinks it’s fully charged when plugged in and at 84%.
