Yes, you can ignore the DC pins, which are not used when AC charging, when checking for continuity.

Might also check the connectors on the circuit board that plug in for the J1772 control signalling.

By the way, you use a 5/32 Allen wrench on the "brown and blue AC Wires from charging cable" according to FCSP information documents and "torque to 70 lb-in. The brown wire terminates on the top lug, and blue to the bottom lug."

With the report of moisture inside the FCSP I'd suspect that H2O problem is more likely the cause of the failure.

Not sure if Ford checks warranty returned units for the cause of the failure or just trashes them.

But after you get a new one, probably a good idea to try to figure out how the moisture/water got in and seal it up better.

However, if it is just ambient humidity that condensed inside the FCSP, maybe relocating it to a less humid enclosed area, or using a dehumidifier, if inside a garage for example.

They are supposed to be suitable for mounting outdoors, but I wonder.

Ford sent a message that a replacement unit is in process..

The moisture issue is troublesome. I used a USA sourced/manufactured fitting and length of flexible conduit from a local supply house for the install that was done absolutely per Ford install specs.

The box has no means for natural drainage. Many "outdoor" rated electrical boxes have drain holes at the bottom. Presumption is that some water will get in, but if allowed to drain out, no damage.

The FCSP seems to try to be perfectly sealed. Hmm.

I will install the replacement and make a point to loop back and take the cover off and examine for moisture after a hard rain or two.

Yes water getting is has been an issue for some other folks on the forum.

I wonder if the issue could be the case gasket was not aligned perfectly and/or the cover was not tightened down adequately? (see below)

Also the instructions specify the torque for mounting to the base:

Using the (4) M4 x 0.7 x 12mm Mounting Screws, attach the unit to the base securely. Tighten to 13 lb-in (1.5 N*m).

This is what they say about the cover:

Verify Gasket has not dislodged from cover groove. Run your finger around the entire gasket to
make sure there is no damage that would allow future weather to enter the enclosure.

Replace the structural cover on the unit and attach using (9) M4 x 0.7 x 6 mm screws retained when removed earlier. Tighten to 25 lb-in (2.9 N*m) using Torx Head (T20) Bit

Well, they sent a new one out. My brother installed (not very difficult to swap out old for new. I will check torque setting next trip out.). Up and running.

Had a return label in the box. No one told us to return the old one, but its common sense to do so.

Return the old one, or wait till Ford asks?

I'd return it.

Returning it could allow Ford/Siemens determine what went wrong, assuming they check it, but they might/probably will just scrap it/recycle it as most cost effective.

Returning it saves you the trouble of taking it to your local electronics recycle depot.
