Too little, too late. Hate it, but the Chinese are smoking anything in the US or being developed in the US. They are currently bringing out batteries that can charge in a few minutes. It'll be all over before this ever has a chance to leave the laboratory.

If we still have our trucks in 10 years I’m willing to bet there will be after market and/or refurb options to swap out our battery for something else by then. Probably lighter and more range.

More range in a bigger truck is what I want. I think they heard me when I was shouting at clouds about an F-350 sized truck that can pull at least 20k lbs 500 miles.

Wow, is Ford incompetent. Nobody cares about a marginal improvement in battery technology in five years. Just announce a fleet of self driving taxis "next year." And robots! Definitely robots.

Don’t forget AI!
I think they should announce a transformers type, AI, self driving, robotic, flying truck with 1000 mile range helium batteries so it’s super lightweight!

I agree, there's so many people adding electric drivetrains to gas vehicles, by comparison, it would be trivial to drop the pack on a lightning and replace the battery with something that tricks the bms into thinking nothing has changed. This will probably only make sense way down the road though. When say, batteries are twice the density per weight (or more) than they are now.
