I wanted to try to find a better way to pin point exactly what trucks might be affected and in need of a battery replacement based on the vins found in the recall notice. As you may know, the last few digits of the vin do not necessarily tell you the order in which the trucks were built. So you could have a vin with a higher last 5 digit vin that was built before a truck with digits that were lower. Of the window stickers that are still available, they all have a blend date between 1-22 and 1-25. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of data to go by as only 5 trucks still have their stickers available, but with that information, my theory is that the date range of 1-20 to 1-26 in the recall notice refers to the blend date. Meaning that if your truck has a blend date of before 1-20, your truck may not be affected.

Here are the vins that had an available window sticker and their blend dates:

1FTVW1EL5PWG11047 01-25
1FTVW1EL7PWG08599 01-22
1FTVW1EL8PWG08143 01-25

Thanks TaxmanHog. What does that number you highlighted mean? My truck has an early blend date than these trucks, but has a number of 8669 which doesn't make too much sense to me unless those numbers are reused and rotated during production.

Exactly, they are rotated continuously from 8000 to 8999, the rollover occurs when ever it reaches the max, often seeing mid week cycle back to 8000.

This number is significant since it does not get revised with the spray in liner renumbering, which several trucks in this sample had [8732] did not have spray in liner.

My Blend Date was 12/16. Been sitting in hot Florida sun for 2 months now at the rail yard 1 mile away from the dealership. Either this problem is WAY bigger than Ford is letting on OR they are completely incompetent at releasing the trucks that do not have the issue. If they are telling us the truth about the 1/20-1/26 dates, there is no reason for a majority or our trucks to remain stuck in transit. So this lack of movement and communication only leads me to believe they are not telling us the truth.
I understood the 1/20-1/26 dates to only reference the 18 trucks that had to be recalled. If I'm remembering correctly, Ford stated that the batch of troublesome batteries was narrowed to the whole month of January and the very end of December.

Welp I was almost right. Ford was saying that the recalled trucks had cells that were "manufactured during a four-week period at the end of 2022" ( https://www.teslarati.com/ford-f-150-lightning-battery-issue-production-stoppage/ ). So any trucks that were built using these batteries are suspect. Not just ones built between 1/20 and 1/26.

I believe that is when the faulty batteries were produced, but they didn't find their way into trucks until 1/20-1/26. It's assumed that there are a lot more than 18 trucks affected. The 18 trucks on the recall are just trucks that somehow made it's way to the dealers during the stop production/transit.
