I just spent some time in Europe this November, and in between other business I actually visited a Ford dealership which had an imported F150 on the lot.

I am a big fan of rear fog lights ever since my 1991 BMW (US spec) fit which this was an option. I added them later to my Ford Fusion / "Mondeo" and to my Mach E Mustang.

Unfortunately, their F150 was a North America spec vehicle. The smart tech said that the only two Euro countries with significant F150 Lightning presence are Norway and Switzerland... and neither of these countries is in the EU. Therefore, Ford Corporate had chosen to so far not to field rear fog lights or Euro-style outside mirror glass for the F150 as there is no market demand yet for EU-mandated safety gear.
While I have yet to confirm, I believe it's on the BDM - I just have to enable it in Forscan.... and run my own wires... and... and.... *sigh*

...and finagle non-standard lights as Ford didn't (yet) bother to make any.

When I was driving the Powerboost loaner while my battery was having a module replaced I ran with the fogs on because I couldn't stand the extra darkness at the edge of the road when the brights weren't on. Gotten too used to my glare-free setup providing light away from the on-coming traffic so I can spot the eyes of the 4-legged, sometimes-antlered critters that tend to leap without looking both ways first.
Sounds like you should've done everyone a favor and enabled the glare free on the loaner.
How long do you think it'd take for anyone to notice?

If I still had an active Forscan account and had kept the truck for more than 3 days, it might have happened.

Welp, I ended up ordering the switch.

For those playing along at home, the closet match for me (I have a '23 Lariat) is LB5Z-11654-TC. If you have a newer Lightning with the right/left mirror zonal lighting on the light cluster, there are other options that should also translate - based on my perusal of the factory manual.

I think I'm going to get some SAE-Fog spec lights from Diode Dynamics for the front, and I'm going to have to think about rear options.

I'm looking at the BCM and I think we're going to be able to drive the LEDS from the BCM (that's how they're done factory spec for most F150s) - using pin 5 and 12 from C2280 - but I will likely run them through relay to be sure. It doesn't look like the two front pins for Fog lights are used by the lightning for anything. I'm hoping that FORSCAN switching on the fogs as ICE owners do will get the desired results :)

As for the rear? Apparently Chinese market models have rear fogs, too, using pin 25 on the same connector. Again, for sanity and safety, probably relaying it smart, although if it's LED... I probably don't need to .

Well we had a thick heavy fog last night here in Kansas. Had a chance to drive 50 miles through it. What I found is that with the headlights switch in the regular 3rd position with the green headlight and automatic brights and dims that it automatically switches to brights in the heavy fog. It would pick up an oncoming car and dim for it but then go back to bright. Of course that was just to blinding to see much. Had to switch it over to the 4th headlamp position and run on dims all the time. I tried the brights and the brights in the 4th position was the same as in the automatic 3rd position.

So for now I'm going to add a couple fog lights. I have a couple auxiliary lights on my other pickup that mount with a 1/2" bolt which I can drill a hole down low in the bumper cover. Just need a switch and maybe a relay and where to wire it to. Any ideas? Can I order a switch and relay from Amazon?

Where on the front do you plan on mounting them? Also, do you know if the wiring you found will keep the fogs on with the high beams?

I ordered 5 blue led lighted round rocker switches from amazon for 9 bux. They are the 3 wire type. Probably mount my lights and run a fused 12 gauge wires from the lights to a nearby ground and then connect the two hots and run a single 12 gauge hot up front.

Where in the fire wall can I run any wires through?

Do these need any type of relay and if so what type and why and where does it wire into the circuit?

Also are there any spots in the fuse box I can stick a fuse with wire coming from it?

Thanks.

In most (all?) modern cars if there is an empty fuse slot there aren't any terminals to connect a fuse, that being said, most people will run a fuse tap on an 'on powered' fuse in the box, are you wanting to use a switch or do you want them to stay powered with the truck?

For OP, probably late to the party but in the DIY ACC thread the harness they ordered came with a fog lamp harness but I couldn't say whether it actually works or not, just that the wiring exists.

Thanks. I have a few of those fuse tap deals but the trick is finding a place where the cover will go back on. I may mount those lights this afternoon with a temporary switch but just need to see where to go around behind the frunk and through the firewall. I may just clip them to the battery just to see how they do for a start.

If you want to run your own physical switch you don't even need a fuse tap, you can wire it directly to the battery, but you'll have to remember to turn them off too.

I’ll probably put them up front near the air intake but not blocking it. As for brights? NO. fog lamps are not meant to be used like that. SAE approved ones are designed to give a wide low spread in fog…. You use them with dipped lights.

I’ve never understood why anyone would want to use them with main beams… that defeats the purpose of them.

I am a huge fan of these style switch panels. Direct battery power, relay abd fuses included, remote control, etc.

Im guessing there are ones that let you do external triggers (i.e. switch on PLUS a vehicle light powered to enable). Im also guessing there are wireless controls too to avoid going through the firewall.
