It's no secret about the gsm being a source of contention for many and I'm no exception.
I can replicate the yellow wrench and associated warnings/codes on demand by driving aggressively where shifting into gear is concerned.
What I did to alleviate that wrench is keep an obd dongle in the truck to clear the code.
Replicating the malfunction is easy, just shift into forward from reverse while still rolling back a little bit or, open the door while in gear with your hand on the shifter and hold a little pressure on it to stimulate you keeping it in gear at the same time.
Almost reminds me of an old 3/4T gmc I had back in the 80's with 3 on the tree.
You try shifting fast in that thing, you're getting out with a screw driver in hand to un-jam the linkage at the firewall. In this case it's a dongle to get rid of the wrench and warnings on screen.
Every single time I've done this results in a GSM error code being set and likely the reason a lot of them get changed out.
