Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the e-locking rear axle lock the rear wheels together to boost the ability to travel through snow? Or get unstuck? Or avoid getting stuck?
None of that has anything to do with towing.
Traditionally the rear locker has not been a common option for most pickups. Offroad or specific trims received it for harder offroad use. My 2021 Bronco Badlands has front and rear selectable lockers. Locking the rear wheels together would make the truck harder to drive in snow, but would help extract you from a snow bank or being stuck. The locker can also push the truck more straight forward making it understeer. I guess they figure someone towing more regularly could find themselves in a spot trying to drag a trailer up a slippery boat ramp or grassy hill where the locker would help. I agree they should remain standard equipment.

You can greatly increase traction in an open differential truck by applying the service brakes to help modulate the torque to both wheels. Some newer vehicles do this with the ABS system to even fully stop a wheel that is off the ground while offroad.

The part that makes it even worse for me is, I'm 99.999% sure this is done in software. And the software is already written. This is just de-contenting for de-contenting's sake.

There is a servo and actuator inside the rear motor/diff on Lightnings.

The F-150 Lightning isn’t alone in terms of feeling the effects of a general slowdown in demand for EVs, as one of its chief rivals – the Tesla Cybertruck – recently received some price cuts to spur sales
Lightning may do better over time if battery module replacement does not get out of hand. CT innovation is gradually being exposed for what it is.

I got a Flash trim level too late in the game I suppose. I don't have:

- Dampened tailgate
- Tailgate step
- Locking differential
- 131 kWh battery pack
- Wireless charging pad
- Door lock/unlock keypad

Which is ALL equipment I would have used regularly and would have benefitted from. Price on the truck sure didn't decrease though!
