The update overrode the charging.

This seems to be happening to several folks in recent updates.
Setting your update window to later in your charge window can reduce the chance the update messes with your charge. For example, if your charge window is 11pm-7am, set your update window at 5am since by then most of the time target SOC will already be reached. This could still mess with your departure times if you leave early, but at least you'd have your SOC to get through the next day.
You can also set your update window to only the days it may have less impact, like early Saturday and Sunday mornings when you don't have to work that day.

YES, Even before all the funkyness I was looking into this. I just had A new solar system installed w/batteries, and have wanted to add this to the ATS/breaker panel. I have SunPower system, and I can still "Log in" to the app and get some info, But The computer access servers have been down for 5 days now. I figure its the winding down of SunPower after the bankruptcy. Thanks for the reminder, will most likely get this after the 1st of the year...

I had a similar situation the night before last I plug in my truck every night to charge it to 85% GOM. I have it set to charge between 12 AM and 4 AM due to the lower rates. When I jumped in the truck yesterday, I didn’t really pay attention but when I got to work, I was down well below what I should’ve been so I assumed it did not charge!
That really worried me because the last time that happened was when the critter chewed through my wiring or whatever happened!
When I got home, I plugged in the truck and told FordPass to start the charge and it’s started-whew.

Last night it charged without issue so I don’t know what the deal was? I updated my truck With FDRS a week or two agoand there are no current updates available so it was not any software download like yours??

Yes, the thought of rodent chewing or other serious problem crossed my mind too - rodents destroyed my fuel pump on my 2001 Ranger during COVID when I hardly drove anywhere. A pricey repair, too, even with the local garage mechanic about $1000 or so.
I think I'm going to be up past 1am watching the next charge to be sure it starts on time, just to be sure.

Yes, you're right, coincidentally, they were set to the same start time.

I set the update time for 1am in a 'panic' one day because I was at a light on a busy road and the truck told me an update was about to install and my truck would be immobilized for up to 30 minutes or something. When I got to my destination I changed it before turning the truck off and forgot about it.

I guess I thought that after one of them finished the other would start but I was wrong.

I've had a recent update (not the most recent one) interfere with my charging session in process.
The session paused
The update applied
The charging session did NOT resume.
I was lucky to be awake (middle of the day, a nap might have been involved)
Early evening I looked at FP, expecting the session to be done, it was not, click START charging it resumed the charging session, then I unplugged.

Obviously for folks observing TOU schedules this could be inconvenient to say the least to wake up randomly to baby sit your trucks charging activities.

Seems like once again some programmer has no idea about how things should work in the real world.

It was a slightly bad way to start a very cold day for me...hadn't even gotten fully dressed yet, pre-coffee and toast, pre-crossword puzzle, too.

I guess my babysitting days are not over after all...alas, I will be up past my bedtime watching the next charge start.

But other than these minor software annoyances, I love the truck.

Can't complain too much when it only costs me about 2 cents per mile in the Lightning.

Another observation about how level 2 charging in very cold conditions causes battery warming from not only by the act of charging but also the PTC & circulator pump is more active.

I close my weekly charging log on Sundays, the truck had not been charged for the prior days driving, local temps have been as low as 11, and today's high was 21, the local trips brought my SOC down to 73%. The available energy to the motors was limited to 87%.

Once the day's travels were done, I plugged in for another top off to 90%, the 17% increase should be ~22.3 kWh of traction energy under ideal conditions.

Actual energy consumed from the grid, 31.91 kWh per Emporia, 31.689 kWh per FCSP log file, and 29.3 kWh per the active charging screen last I seen before the truck reached 90% then it disappeared, NOTE if you want to see that value again, just click the START charge button to trigger the "to 100% function" for 30 seconds to see the closing value, then STOP the charging process.

The Fordpass Charge Session log shows that I put in 17% and it's value was 22 kWh of driveable energy. The extra 7 to 9 kWh is attributed to conversion loss and thermal management of the battery.

NOTE, this morning I was plugged in but not charging nor pre-conditioning, I only used remote climate start and consumed ~1.8 kWh of energy to warm the cabin for 15 minutes.

The ETA to charging goal was pretty accurate, initially said it would be done about 3:15, then as the process continued it updated to 3:35, the Emporia log shows 3:36, I unplugged the FCSP at 3:37.

This week has been rough on efficiency, with cold conditions and lots of remote climate start I'm getting 0.8 miles to the kWh, energy rates this past billing cycle are up to 35.33 cent a kWh.

I drove 89 miles, idled a lot compared to last week when I had a road trip to NH.
44 cents a mile this week, versus last weeks 27 cents a mile.

This week has been rough on efficiency, with cold conditions and lots of remote climate start I'm getting 0.8 miles to the kWh, energy rates this past billing cycle are up to 35.33 cent a kWh.

I drove 89 miles, idled a lot compared to last week when I had a road trip to NH.
44 cents a mile this week, versus last weeks 27 cents a mile.

Ouch.
I guess I am lucky to have an EV-time-of-day budget billing program here from Dominion Energy (Virginia), and milder weather, too.
The other cold day, I did see my efficiency drop quite a bit - I got 2.1mi/kWh on a short trip not over 35 mph, mostly 25 mph.
Winter costs me about 6 cents/kWh over night (1am to 5am).
The worst rate in winter is 11 cents/kWh during the daytime 6am-11am and 5pm-10pm peak usage times. Worst in summer is about 16 cents/kWh.

A little wrinkle in the reporting I just noticed:

I am getting the charge history for the most recent charging event in FordPass (From the Truck not the FCSP) only AFTER I unplug the truck from the FCSP.

Been keeping the truck plugged in at night since the weather has been getting down to the 30's lately. No charge history the next morning for that night UNTIL I unplug the FCSP from the truck, then it appears within a minute or two.

Note: I never got the FCSP to report to FprdPass, always had an error in the set up app at the last step, so what I am seeing comes from the truck, not the FCSP.

That's normal, it should be the total of all energy sent to the HVB, to impute the total grid energy, divide the kWh shown on that report by .92, this is generally how it's been spring, summer & fall, but lately this cold season the energy to condition the battery spontaneously overnight or when doing departure time, or remote start isn't being captured accurately by that report, in my case the discrepancy jumps from 8% to 25%.

Folks in milder climates this factor might not be as bad in winter.

I'm wondering if the problem is related to your multiple methods of accessing the system, IIRC you have both an android tablet and phone. I'm curious if any other members can access the configuration process and complete it successfully with multiple devices?

I was thinking you might try setting up the tablet as a second driver (with second fob) while your primary access method via mobile device/phone and initial FOB operate independently.

Then with that set make sure the secondary FOB, tablet are shut down while repeating the configuration steps with only your phone, primary driver account and FOB, maybe then the association of the FCSP to you primary account will succeed.

BTW: The Emporia Vue 3 is a fantastic data collection instrument, highly recommended if you want to dig into the granular details of your energy consumption, something FCSP nor Fordpass charging reports can touch.

That's an interesting idea, I originally started with FordPass on an android phone with a different login than the android tablet and I had to request permission from the tablet and have the phone give permission to the tablet login to access FordPass, took me a while to realize I was using different logins on the two devices, lol.

The tablet is the second user authorized by the first, and I haven't tried the setup app with the phone (I think).

I'll have to try that, thanks for the idea, it did not occur to me that having two devices would be an issue.

Actually I may have 3 devices because at some point before I figured out the login issue, I also put FordPass on my wife's iPhone and connected to the truck. But I don't think it is a different USER probably the first login was used, but it's all a blur now, so many months ago.

Last night my truck had another round of spontaneous battery conditioning due to cold weather, this time it kicked on at 0211 and for 12 minutes, used ~1.82 kWh of energy. My timed charging schedule always start on the dime, though this week, I'm not charging until Sunday end of travel day, and will immediately start charging when I plug in.

This weeks study is to measure the total weekly energy for battery maintenance and morning remote start in cold weather, this value is going to vary week to week through the season depending on how cold it is.

Tiny amounts of energy seem to flow between EVSE and the truck, I think it's just background noise that the ferrite loops are picking up from the lines.

Is there a way to know what the actual temperature of the battery is when this protection begins?
