So this launched on Kickstarter today. Home backup option which presently only works with Tesla. Much more reasonably priced than the FCSP/HIS option. Will be interested to see if they make it available to other manufacturers.

Like the HIS, powers the home by converting DC from vehicle to AC for the home.

I cannot believe that it only has a 5' cord though. That does significantly limit application.

5-foot cord is insanely short! Even the most basic Level 2 charging systems include a 25-foot cord, and sometimes I want even more than that.

There is a lock out that must be installed at the main breaker in the home, this will prevent back feed into the utility. They only mention the breaker interlock kit nor do they provide a schematic of how it is wired into the panel in the home. I think its a good idea but need to see further information to determine if this is viable.

Yes. There are many questions that are not clearly answered on their KS page. Why only a 5' cord? Why only Tesla? Why does this only feed power back and not charge?

I know that Kia/Hyundai have V2x capability as well. Do they feed back with DC or AC? With all the inverters in the vehicles, it would make sense to just use them to output AC back to the home/grid.

I think that for now I will continue my plan for a generator hookup, which this device will need anyway, and use the 240 plug in the bed to support limited home operation.

If it works with a Tesla, it should work with the same vehicles that work with the others (like Lightnings). They just are establishing a CCS DC charging session. They are just marketing to Tesla because of all the existing vehicles that didn't have this function.

It says it is a 5 meter cable, not feet. 5m = 16.4 feet.

The failure rate to deliver on KS hardware projects is so insanely high, I'm a little shocked people still back any of them. Not all of them of course, Bambu has done several that have been successful, but 3D printers probably have an 80% failure rate. I will usually throw a dollar at a KS project so I can access the backer only updates just to see how things are going, and if they DO manage to get it off the ground pick it up in retail.

I can attest to Bambu Lab quality, have over 2700 hours on an x1c and still prints as good as it did new. After screwing around with other brands for years, I wouldn't buy any other brand.

The 5 foot 14-50 to gen inlet is not a problem. it is a standard 1450 to SS2-50R Generator Rv cord. You can but them in varying lengths from 15'-50' at any RV store or even Amazon. .

Easy home back up option: add a critical loads panel {like Reliance 306 or similar} move critical circuits from the main panel to the CLP (Fridge, Freezer, Furnace, kitchen and bathroom lights and a few plugs, internet router etc)
The CLP gives you a place to power these loads from a 240/30A generator plug through the exterior building wall but you can also use your lightning if you have the 240volt pro-power option from the bed. This will not automatically supply power during an outage, but for infrequent outages, it is a low cost easy way to power the critical items in your home from the truck (or from a capable generator) when needed.

I found a CLP an easy stepping stone on my path to solar power: ie I added a battery-inverter set up that was capable of 240-30A and tied that into the CLP as the alternate energy source instead of a generator. Later added the solar panels, but to start out I just charged the battery pack from off peak utility power.
