I started charging my truck this afternoon ( it was charging normally ) & after about an hour decided I needed to run an errand , so I disconnected & left . I just now tried to charge again & it shows an " off plug " message in the app and won't charge . I did a search & couldn't find any topics discussing it , but can't imagine others haven't also received that message. Does anyone have any insight into what the issue is or could be ?

BTW, I initially tried charging on the 40A charger I usually use & then tried on the POS 80A Ford charger that's been nothing but problems from day one , hence I never bother w/ it. I know it's the truck because I then tried charging our tesla & it's charging fine. TIA for any help / suggestions .

Make sure the breaker is on and the EVSE is powered up.

Since you have 2 EVSEs the EVSE should be clean, try cleaning the truck side port, never done this but you can look it up on the forum.

Try pushing the unlock charger with it plugged in, then unplug, give it a minute, then replug.

Try removing the 12v cable for a couple mins and reattach and retest.

Try a DC fast charger, if it works, retry the L2.

Failing all that, probably dealer time.

What does the ring of lights at your charge port show when you plug in to charge?

Do you have charge windows set?

Can you confirm that fordpass is connected to the truck?

--Breakers were definitely on for both chargers --

--will try this --

--did try that , no luck

Try a DC fast charger, if it works, retry the L2.
--this was one of my 1st thoughts . --

Failing all that, probably dealer time.
-- luckily, only 1.5 miles from me--

Thanks for your help , Heliian.

What does the ring of lights at your charge port show when you plug in to charge?
--only the 2 bottom right turn blue/ stay solid blue ( 4/5 o'clock ) I was trying to remember the normal sequence but went blank. I don't really notice the lights , I go by the sound , usually. ( which btw , never happened , the initial " start-up sound " , I mean)
Am I remembering correctly , all lights are alternating blue when charging normally ? I really can't remember , which is sad. --

Do you have charge windows set?
--no , I usually just do everything manually , although I do have a 4pm end time for when the electric rate changes .--

Can you confirm that fordpass is connected to the truck?
-- I'm assuming so , I see all current info / control everything on my phone, including Phone as Key

The lights should go white initially when you plug in, then blue, indicating your SOC (20% for each light so if you are at 45% SOC, you will see two solid blue lights. When charging starts, the SOC sector light will pulse (in the case of 45% SOC, the third light in the ring will pulse in addition to the 2 solid sector lights).

If you see the blue lights after the white, it means the truck is communicating successfully with the EVSE and if charging doesn't start, it could be a scheduling issue on either the truck or EVSE. Check the time setting on your truck. It is known to get whacked and cause charge windows to be out of sync with real time.

The indicator on the Ford App can be out of sync with the truck if there are any communication issues so the truck charge port indicators are a better method for troubleshooting.

There was at least one report of a failure to charge L2 when the 12v battery was weak/low.
Put it on a jump/maintainer and try again when the 12v is fully charged.

Yes, the 12v battery is needed for L2 charging - to close the HVB contactors for example and to power the J1772 pilot signalling protocol.

Adjust your settings as you should have a window and not just an end time.
Double check in the truck screen as it will be the primary schedule.

Update : Murphy's Law is still undefeated.

I tried charging on Ford charger yesterday morning, and sure enough it charged.

The weird / frustrating thing is the the app still shows " off plug ".

I uninstalled / reinstalled app, thinking / hoping that'd clear the message, it didn't .

I do know the R & R of the app did reset some things because I did have to re-pair my phone to the truck to use as key.

Have you tried pulling down from the top of the phones screen to cause a Ford App status update, the app does need to be manually triggered on occasion to show the changed conditions, this is common after the truck and app have been dormant for a few minutes to hours.

Yes & it's weird , the app " homepage " refreshes when doing that , but the " charging page " does not. And if I'm recalling correctly , it never did. It's definitely not now , I just tried it again.
Another weird thing is it is updating other parts of the page. The " charging history " , for instance , shows my charge from yesterday.

The off-plug message comes from the truck but only when it does not sense the connection.
But if it didn't sense the connection it should not charge the truck.
Seems like a glitch in the App software.

Don't absolutely need the app to charge with the FCSP, I did it for 6 plus months when the FCSP setup app would not complete, then after an update to the app or the FCSP, it finally did complete.

So I guess if it charges the truck, ignore the app "off plug" message, and move on?
