Do most people need a truck "around town"? unless they are a delivery company.

If you're a DIY home owner you absolutely need a truck. When the water heater craps out, time for a homedepot run, new furniture, major appliance, gardening/landscaping supplies etc.......

Also comes in handy when ya wanna take the atv down to the local spillway for some off road fun.

Right now I have three vehicles, a 2019 Niro EV, a 4WD 2004 Envoy XL and 2015 Fusion Energi. The Fusion Energi is my wife’s car, the Envoy is what I use to haul heavy loads and pull my boat and the Niro EV is my long range electric car. The F150 to me is not just an electric pickup truck, it’s the embodiment of everything I need and want from a vehicle.

We have heard little mention of the aluminum body on the F150 Lightning. With the body being so light, the F150 Lightning is really just a massive EV battery on wheels. Calling the F150 Lightning a pickup truck just doesn’t feel right, it’s something much more.

I hope that after all is said and done the only vehicle I will have left is the F150 Lightning. I don’t commute much anymore so I don’t really need a small intercity car. I do make some long road trips and the AWD F150 Lightning will add a lot of security in the winter.

Retirement age is approaching and the F150 Lightning would allow me to fulfill my dream of buying a travel trailer and allowing wind and solar energy to power me down the retirement road. Do I need a F150 Lightning is not even a question I ask. The question I find myself asking is how I ever got along before without a F150 Lightning.

For years I have been dreaming of something electric that can to 5k+ and doesn't cost 80k. Like you, I will be able to get rid of multiple vehicles and replace them with the lightning. I'm just hoping I can make the monthly payment work out as it is over twice as much as any previous vehicle I have purchased.

May help that you don't have to buy any gasoline or oil changes...maybe saving $300 per month? Won't make up the 2X price difference entirely, but certainly will help with the payments and will probably have lots of life left in it after you stop driving at 90 (?). Will need to include it in your will!

I rarely drive more than 80 miles a day. A long work day is 150 miles. I am hoping the standard battery will handle 150 miles of real world driving with A/C blasting all day. Looking forward to not spending $200 a month on gas! The color selections are a little limited at present. Probably a generational thing but, I'm not a fan of huge monitors that look like someone glued an iPad in the center of the dash.

The large screen is only on the lariat and Platinum. The pro and XLT will have a standard screen, the same one that is in the current higher trim trucks.

I tried both the 12" and the 15" a week ago (current F150 and a Mach E) and despite hating the aesthetic of the 15", it is a lot nicer to use... but now that the price sheet is out there, and seeing how much more you have to pay to get that 15"... Ehhhh. I paid $1500 for the bigger Sync system in my 2016 Transit and three years later it already felt stone age old. Would prefer to still have that $1500 in my pocket.

You should have no problem driving 80-150 regularly. AC doesn't have nearly the range impact that heating does and even in cold winter weather 150 should be a piece of cake for the standard range.

I guess all those specs make sense, but it makes the existing Hybrid look like the better pickup … 500+ miles per 5 minute fill-up …. lower sticker, more haul, more tow … 7.2kW onboard power ….

Agreed…. I suppose if one could afford it? Get both, the basic Pro model for your daily driver and the PB as your work horse and long distance runner. That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it, and most importantly, I got my wife’s permission to say so.?

I'll be the enthusiastic one here. I think it looks GREAT. I think the frunk is amazing. Looks like it'll have some type of ProPower, but through the trunk.

We already own a Tesla with 300 mi range and we use the full battery once every couple months. I'm pretty sure we could live with a 230 mi range, but it would get annoying quick. Towing with a 230 mi battery would be nearly impossible, I bet you get 120 useable miles in that case. I guess what I'm saying is that 230 mi isn't the worst thing, but I expect a lot of people to want that 300 mi range.

The interior looks really nice as well.

I feel the same way. I have a Y that does 326 miles. I keep it at 150 miles average and for around town and the next town over it’s fine. When I travel into the office twice a month it’s 159 miles. Even at 326 miles I have to juice up my Y before heading back home. Lightning standard range is all I need and won’t notice a difference with my driving. I don’t tow much and if I do, it will be local and maybe an hour away.

Not into the largest tablet you can fit crowd.
I'd prefer functionality over aesthetics.
Looking at a loaded Pro or lightly optioned XLT.
