Park assist?

Can I activate active park assist in my 2025 Flash with forscan?
I have the button but it just shows me parking lots

This is another thing that has progressed further along with the ICE trucks. More trucks. More modders. You likely need some additional sensors installed. APA was part of an updated tech package in 22-23s that was only on Platinums and most Lariats.

I have a 23 Lariat with the park assist and have used it 3-4 times. It is a very clunky system to use. I find that I can parallel or perpendicular park this vehicle just fine by eye, and using the myriad cameras and radar sensors, much faster than using the system.

To use the system you need to press the parking button, tell it that you want to park the car and not "navigate to parking", then tell it if you want to parallel or perpendicular park. You then need to drive along slowly until it tells you there is a parking spot. You then need to verify it is not a driveway. You then put the truck in neutral, foot off the pedals, and hold the button down while the truck parks itself.

At least that is what I remember since it had been more than a year since I used it last. The experience is a little unnerving the first time. But again, very clunky. I am not surprised that people don't use it, which is why Ford discontinued it.

Same here. And the primary sensor I use is my factory issued Mark-1 eyeballs along with the right and left side mirrors (convex mirrors on both sides). About the only thing I use the cameras for is to make sure how far to back up since rear visibility (especially with a shell installed) is not that great.

I have it in my 2023 Lightning Lariat ER and it does work - but it is very nerve racking watching it maneuver itself into parking spaces - also you need to let it “scan” the spot before it activates so when there is traffic you are affecting it can annoy people…but - much like trailer hitch assist and backup assist it does work well.

It is the same as the ICE trucks.. Linbus chip missing from IPMA. you would have to install a 2022 Lightning IPMA you can NOT use ICE truck IPMA.

24 up do not have the side sensors anymore. So those would have even more to add.

the one time I tried to use mine I gave up and parked myself. It was taking too long to process.

Ford removed it because the telematic data showed it was rarely used.

When parking perpendicular, it only parks next to a vehicle. Me, I park far away, not near vehicles. So useless to me.

Parallel parking works, if there are vehicles in spaces. If the area is open, it proceeds until it finds a vehicle, and parks behind it. And is slow.

Is that what it needs along with the older module for park assist (besides programming), I have front and rear bumper sensors also. It's on a 25 Flash.

No you need side parking sensors. 24 25 doesnt have them on any trim. the 22-23 lighting has 6 sensors front and 6 rear.

24 up has 4 and 4.

The wiring isnt there and the holes arent wither. would be a pain to add on a 24 up

This is basically the issue with it. I rarely want features taken away but this one was just too complicated to use. By the time you did all those required actions to have the truck park itself, you could have parked it yourself much faster.

I wish. They discontinued its use as no one was using it so I'm told, ones that did use it reported it scared them senseless. (snowflakes) lol jk. I can imagine it might be a little unnerving when your 70k machine sweeps in at an angle real close to anything.

I'd like to at least try it once to determine if I want the option or not. If you figure out a way to reactivate it let me know, I have that now useless button also.

If you ever in Atlanta you can try it in mine. It is a little scary but it does work. Parks like a 15 year old.

I think it would have been more useful if it could park/backout of a spot on its own, like the Tesla's can do, there have been a few times where somebody has parked too close on both sides of me can getting the door open and climbing in was a hair raising experience. Would be cool if you could open the app, have the truck back out of the space, so then you have plenty of room to open the door and get in.
