Or maybe it was leaking and not anymore? I pulled off a couple of wheels on my new-to-me truck yesterday afternoon and found this on my rear motor. It's dry with no dripping, so it doesn't look like it's a current thing. Is this something you guys would have looked at, or should I hold off and see if it starts to drip?

I'm also concerned about a possible coolant leak. It shares a garage with a 2004 Expedition that was driven on Friday, and I noticed a faint whiff of coolant when I popped the hood to connect the battery tender. I noticed nothing yesterday when I was in there removing wheels and found this, but I drove it afterward and smelled strong smell of antifreeze last night when I plugged it in. The reservoir looks a bit low, but I'm not sure if it's always been like that.

Your coolant level is definitely lower than normal, take it in for inspection.

The moisture (oil/coolant)?? appears higher than the output shaft, might be oil sling from the shaft seal, or a leak from the top of motor or other devices further up, they have coolant lines up there.

That’s also a “Can you please check the seals?” situation.

FWIW, another forum had a member with the exact same issue last year and it was a coolant leak.

Mine was exactly there COLD the other day before my service appt, so I asked them to top it off.

Thanks, guys. I went back and stuck my phone up there to awkwardly make a video. It sure looks like the leak was from that seal. It goes in for 23B57 on Tuesday morning, so I’ll ask them to take a look.

Do you know which line was cracked and where it was leaking?
Sorry for the late reply. My understanding is that it was the main coolant line that was cracked. The service center did not provide details on where the line was cracked, but we noticed what we later presumed was coolant leaking underneath the frunk.

Seems like most (all?) our trucks are coming from the factory with the coolant at or just above the minimum line on the filler tank. But below the line - has anyone here seen that without a leak eventually being found?

I should have posted an update, my apologies.

My dealer looked at everything and said there was no leak, so I'm not sure what to think. I've got a nice, long powertrain warranty, so I'm going to keep an eye on it. I'll post back if I see any kind of evidence that it's still leaking.
