Propulsion sound?

In the ACM module there’s something called “engine sound enhancement”. I tried to enable it via easy mode but it says “writing blocks failed - incompatible configuration”.

There’s also a “software engineer sound enhancement (ese) that you can enable via easy mode but it doesn’t change the fact the propulsion sounds toggle doesn’t stay enabled.

Unless there is some hardware missing from the lower trims that is needed for this to work? I'm not sure, tbh. I looked through the ACM and DSP settings to see if I found anything in there that was related, but nothing.

In FDRS under “Programable features” there’s something called Sound System Upgrade. Could that help? Has anyone done this?

EDIT: There’s also “Enable Engine Sound Enhancement and Active Noise Control” in FDRS. I’m wondering if that’s it? It would program the ACM module.

Just tried it. Says “feature not supported”. To me that sounds like a piece of hardware is missing.

Turning off the pedestrian warning sound is such a bad idea; and possibly illegal. It definitely is in Canada. Turning off the frunk one for makes sense, and I wish the backup one was quieter but I do understand why it is there.

Ahh. I don’t care. You know how many years hybrids didn’t make any noise. And how quiet gas cars today. Not to mention brand new teslas make zero noise going forward. Only in reverse. So I’m loosing zero sleep on this issue.

I’m only talking about the in cabin population sound that makes it sound like an engine when you accelerate.

I wonder what setting was changed I. Your truck. Mine has made zero noise inside since day one. The mach-e makes noise but not the lightning. I’ve been in 2 others that are also quiet.

There’s always aftermarket propulsion sounds you can add to you Lightning, such as this thing which connects to the OBD port https://glydsphere.com/ but I get the sense this isn’t for most of the Lightning crowd here

As far as I’ve seen it’s an option only platinums have. I’d be curious to see what settings are different compared to a lariat.

I have a high option lariat and no sound. I have not been in a platty yet.

IIRC we discussed this on another thread (couldn't find .... I didn't make a strong effort) but I think the "sound file" is also needed on the appropriate module which controls the "in cabin sound effect"
