Return to Sport not returning

[RLXXI]

In a previous post I stated the Sport mode is related to Android Auto connecting as they both appear to switch at the same time. I was asked to turn off my phone to see if that is the problem. With the phone off, Sport mode return to Normal mode so this is not related.

I was wondering about that myself as I also correlated the two anomalies. Still the audio shouldn't stutter like it does when modes change and/or AA connects. Drives me up a wall more than the mode changing around on it's own.

iOS user here, and it still reverts back. I have to wait 30 seconds or more after powering on and manually select Sport Mode. Otherwise it reverts to normal.

Kind of boggles me that it's taking this long for them to push a hotfix out. Not only an inconvenience but a safety hazard.

Also boggles me that this selection option isn't part of the steering wheel options on the dashboard display, or a physical knob near the gear selector, and is instead on the main display forcing drivers to take their eyes off the road, hand off the wheel, to navigate a touchscreen to select their drive mode.

I've had this theory shot down before on this site but here goes... Owner of a late build 2025 Plantium with the latest software. 98% of the time, Sport Mode remains active when the truck is started but will switch to Normal Mode the moment Android Auto loads. The two are related. Prove me wrong.

Mine does the same with CarPlay

Wonder what would Elon Musk say to Tesla engineers involved in the (hypothetical) downgrade and procrastinating with restoring such a useful feature for a few months already? Good boys...good girls...HR will contact you shortly! This is sad that I do not like Tesla.

It’s difficult to even put it in to words how disappointing Ford has been with how they handle the software side of their business. As you stated, 10 years ago this behavior would be non-existent at Tesla. 2026 and ford is still stuck in 2006.

The fact that this tiny little, yet highly annoying, bug still exists 7 months later is really sad. Especially being it used to work just fine.

I typically try to stay upbeat and optimistic, but there comes a time when one must be realistic with the facts laid before them.
