It has worked beautifully for me. Auto hold works fine. The only new thing with I have experienced is it now will apply the park brake if you open the door or turn off power when not in park.

Copy that. Mine does that now with the original shifter. If I open door or turn off power same thing park brake applies.

OK. To select the travel direction on an EV requires only a simple electrical signal. The bulky mechanical contraption on our trucks is overly complex and is prone to failure. That’s why it sucks and some are replacing it with something much more simple.

They're going for controls that have the look and feel of traditional ICE controls to avoid excess cognitive load for drivers whose first car wasn't a Lightning. I appreciate this - the first time I tried to put my 2015 Model S into neutral for a car wash, my head just about exploded, never mind that lovely company's awesome midwinter UI update that buried the defroster controls 3 layers deep in menus.

IF IT WORKED RELIABLY I would greatly prefer the Lightning shifter to the rotary knob. We have a 24 Mach E with the knob and I always feel like I have to look at it to confirm its position (Headlight switch on these cars is the same way, a "fake mechanical" knob whose actual position is meaningless. Hate that even more). But it is clearly not reliable.

If I had my druthers it'd be Pushmatic 2025! Simple physical buttons, one per gear. No need to look down to hit them and nothing sticking up to interfere with the work surface.

The fake column-shifter on the other Mach E in our stable (2025 GT) is nice too.

How is that rotary shift knob working out for folks; any issues or warranty denials for swapping it out?

I love mine. I'm using the one from a '21/'22 Bronco Sport with the rubberized knob. No issues.

I swapped to a rotary knob. It is a less intuitive than the lever, but sure freed up space on the console. If I don't shift to park before opening the door or depowering the vehicle, it will set the park brake and I have to manually release it to move again. I general, I do like it due to the freed up space on the console.
As far as warranty, mine is dealer installed using a new module from a Bronco Sport and a tub from Manion Makes.

I would NOT go with any version that came on a Mach-E. That's the one that seems to cause issues. From what I've read and experienced, you want the version that came on a '21/'22 Bronco Sport, or Escape, (and possibly the Maverick? I think somebody reported using one of those). Newer versions '23/'24 may also work as well but I haven't seen anything written about those.

I believe all of these have the motorized knob that will actually rotate the selector from D to P when you open the driver's door, versus simply changing the LED from D to P without the knob moving.

But does it throw DTCs? I thought somebody said that the Mach-E version threw DTCs all the time. That's why I went with the Bronco Sport version (same as Escape).

It coded on the door module when I first powered up. Cleared them. None since.

Same boat here. I filed for Buyback recently. Since I’ve owned the truck starting 7/18 of last year I’m coming up on 2.5 months in the shop. First shifter took 2 weeks. Battery module 7 took 3.5 weeks and now my second shifter replacement and it’s been at the shop for going on 30 days. It sucks because I love to Azure Gray but I’m just done with this truck.

Look into the Lemon Law in your state a grab an attorney that deals in it. I’m in California and have been thru 3 buy backs so I’m vaguely familiar but check your state
