Okay, will try that.
It's printing now, but it's at the limit of the build plate dimensions on my Snapmaker J1S. Couldn't even include a skirt or a brim...that's how close it is to the edges. I'm printing in black ABS.

There's a FDRS routine to update the TRON encryption after you've installed something that uses it. It apparently re-writes the keys.

The problem is a lack of a rotary shifter with TRON capabilities. The 2025 Mach moved to a stalk shifter. Waiting to see if a 2025 Maverick or Expedition has a shifter with the same plug on the bottom. The expedition is moved to the dash with the + and - buttons to the left instead of rear, so it looks to be a significantly different footprint.

Shifter works great and can deploy table while driving.

Yesterday I installed a Ford Mustang Mach E rotary shifter in my Lightning. Thanks to Asianman35 for the 3D printed cubby with the bonus MagSafe holder.

Mach E rotary shifter part #: LJ9Z-7P155-D 1X from FordPartsGiant.com.

I chose the Mach E shifter because of the 5Spurs.com crown I can add. I had these 5 Spurs crowns on my old Mach E and really like the tactile feel and heft better than the OEM silver plastic ring's feel.

I tested and then drove for the day with the Mach E shifter. The basic functionality is there, BUT there are three secondary issues:

1. The Auto Hold function doesn't work. The Auto Hold Sync slider button is grayed out and refuses to turn the function on.

2. The Parking Brake automatic release doesn't release when starting to drive, either forward or in reverse. To release the Parking Brake, I have to manually disengage the Park lever on the front dash.

3. The 30-minute Neutral for roll-towing doesn't work with this shifter's L button. No L light, no Neutral gear.

Of note, the normal Neutral function does engage, as does the Park Brake function when shutting the truck off while in Drive.

Additionally, the Mach E rotary shifter has a rectangular protrusion on its bottom. It's easily leveled out with some thin hard foam or similar shimming. I used some leftover Dynamat sheets and the bottom leveled out with three such Dynamat layers. See these 2 pics:

The horizontal dimensions of the Mach E shifter box fit exactly within the 3D printed shifter cubby, courtesy of fellow member Asianman35 (thanks again, Asianman35!)

So I have two questions for the readers:

1. Does / did anyone run into the Auto Hold / Parking Brake / Neutral + 30 functionality issues with any Ford rotary shifter? ...and if so, did anyone figure out an FDRS or ForScan solution? a module recalibration or reset, perhaps?

2. In case I have to switch to another Ford rotary shifter, could members here please respond with the horizontal measurement across the top outer knurled edges of their now-installed and fully functioning Bronco / Escape / xxx rotary shifter? I'll greatly appreciate this info in advance because I want to keep the (pre-tariff haha) 5 Spurs British aluminum crown for any shifter I do install, even if I have to McGyver how to mount the 5 Spurs crown.
Not related at all to your questions but I see you have the 12" screen and don't have the trailer package so I was just gonna recommend you get dadgineered magsafe charger replacement for the useless coin holder.

Well if you DO have an issue with a module that has TRON capabilities and it's throwing DTCs.....

Not related at all to your questions but I see you have the 12" screen and don't have the trailer package so I was just gonna recommend you get dadgineered magsafe charger replacement for the useless coin holder.

I use the TWRAPS charging pad in the below-hand controls cubby in front of the 3D-printed + cup holder section.

Actually, I do tow my brake-equipped teardrop trailer for longer adventure trips and plan to switch out the Bluetooth Echo trailer brake module for the Ford trailer brake module... one of these days..

So I adapted the 5Spurs.com duraluminum shifter cap, made for the Mach E, to the new Bronco rotary shifter on my Lightning.

The Mach E rotary shifter and the Bronco rotary shifter have subtly different horizontal and vertical diameters. I had to mill off 50 thousands of an inch off the 5 Spurs cap's bottom, and then mill in a step to accomodate the Bronco shifter's bottom flange.

I love the Lightning blue color as a nice focal point in my XLT's fairly drab cabin interior. Of note, 5 Spurs offers multiple colors including black.

Mounting: I trimmed the Bronco shifter's eight rubber finger ribs with an X-Acto knife to be flush with the inner edge of the bottom flange. I then slowly press-fitted the 5 Spurs shifter cap on.

Milling dimensions:

- 50 thousands / inch off the bottom.
- 24 thousands / inch step depth.
- 14 thousands / inch step width.

The Bronco shifter's remaining rubber finger flange elements hold the 5 Spurs shifter cap securely in place, so I didn't (yet) go the extra step of adding liquid electrical tape goo in between the shifter and the shifter cap.

The feel of the shifter with its added width and its deep finger grooves is very nice... and of course, the Lightning blue color works well.

BTW - 5Spurs.com is a tiny 1-person business in England.

I wet sanded it a bit and used Rustoleum truck Bedliner rattle can.
Turns out with a matte kinda finish, not an exact match but I think it’ll be durable.
