Hard cornering will smooth the outer tread to nothing in well less than 30,000 miles. Ease up on the cornering and good for 40K plus. I didn’t ease up.. nearly stacked the truck up crossing an icy bridge with a slight jog left at the end of the bridge 😳😬🙈☠.

So what would be the best pressure to run in OEM tires for highway driving. Doing a 233-mile trip to campsite tomorrow.

Generally, when I go camping, I have 4-5 adults in the truck along with 300-500 lbs of additional stuff. I top off my tires at 40 PSI to roll better with the additional half-ton weight.

That is dependent on the type of tire you have mounted. You should refer to the sidewall to be sure.

I have a new set of tires bought and ready to install later this year. The originals are Grabbers and they are down to about 5/32.

With just less than 20k on them now.

The secret to a long life tire on the lightning is to resist the urge to goose it a bunch. I imagine many of yall are like me and sometimes hitting the juice pedal and spinning the tires a bit for good fun puts a smile on the face. Downside is, you have to eventually replace them!

I run 45 PSI cold. I'm shocked that Ford specs such a low tire pressure on a truck with a 8,500 lb. GVWR. I will most likely go with a stronger built tire when it's time to replace for peace of mind.

My last truck was similar curb weight, and went through tires on about the same schedule I see lightning owners reporting here. Just a cost of being heavy I guess. The difference with the lightning is the nice even split of front to back weight, especially in winter driving. This truck is heads and shoulders above anthing I have ever driven in winter.
In our area, it is very common to have two sets of tires for cars and SUV's (winters and 3-season tires on their own rims). This will be my first truck with two sets of tires, since I normally just picked a winter tire that could handle the summer heat without evaporating before my eyes.
For the Lighning I bought a set of Blizzak DM2 on second set of rims for the winter, and will continue with a 3-season tire on the stock rims for the non-snowy part of the year. See how it goes.

I have been seeing 70k miles or more out of A/T tires on my F-250 and my cousins nearly identical F-250. So I would expect that much or more life out of the tires on the lighter F-150 Lightning.

If tires are wearing out prior to at least 50k on your truck, then you've got terrible alignment or a really poor type of tires on your truck.
Lightning and F250 Diesel weight almost exactly the same.

I haven't scaled my Lightning yet, but by the door placard it should be around 6,400 lbs. My 2019 F-250 was 7,700 by the placard, and 7,800 on the CAT scales. Quite a bit heavier.

Today I finally replaced my OEM Goodyear Territory HT, got 72k out of them (got free rotations at Discount Tire every 10k) and could have gotten a little more but with winter here it's the right time to replace. I went with the Michelin Defender LTX ($318 each at DT) as I had Michelin Defenders on my prior EV and had 82k miles on the set when I sold the car, and could have gotten another 20k or so.

The door jamb pressure on my 2023 XLT ER is 42psi, but I normally run 46psi to try and avoid so much outside wear. And as shown in the pics, the center of the tires still had a lot of tread remaining.

I am now at 18,000 miles. I have the Hankook Dynapro AT2 that came with the Lariat. I now have just over 3/8" remaining. I try to keep the pressure at 35-36 psi. I drive very conservatively with moderate accelerations

We will see if they can make it through the winter.

Just had my 30,000 mile checkup and the original tires still have 9/32nds. I asked them to check again as this seemed unlikely but they were correct. So much for EV tires not lasting. Our ICE CRV had to have new tires about 25,000 miles.
