As the title states, just curious if the rear of my truck was lifted by a prior owner? Wheels & tires seem stock, curious if someone could provide me the measurement from top of rear tire to bottom of wheel well.
Thank you

Trucks generally are higher in the back to compensate for payload being added, Lightnings are just... higher. lol

I prefer there be more travel though, gives a better ride. My Mach-E had a hard ride because there was so little travel in the suspension.

Definitely stock height! How are you enjoying the ride so far?

That’s normal.

1) It allows for squat as the truck gets loaded without having it point nose up.
2) It creates a more aerodynamic shape as the tailgate serves as a an aerodynamic aid.

Mine measures 40” floor to wheel well if it helps.

sw engineering manager,
One issue with the Lightning design is they raised the bed a couple of inches to make room for the inverter modules to sit under there on top of the rear motor/diff.

Wish it was lower. I definitely notice the extra inches when loading and unloading things via ramps as compared to my previous Chevy 3/4 ton (which I thought was excessively high). Also reaching over the sides, it is annoyingly too high.

This is also very noticeable when using the integral tailgate step, the first step up is quite far!!! Almost unusable. The second step and stepping onto the tailgate is much more reasonable.

That 1st step is high, but for me it makes the perfect seat for sitting and putting on my golf shoes. Love it!!

Yes compared to my 2001 Ranger, much higher - I used to ride my HD up a ramp on the Ranger don't think I'll try that with the Lightning unless I get a longer ramp!

Loading bags of gravel into the bed is more exercise now too.

Wish I had a tailgate step...might have to get an aftermarket one someday

Put a RealTruck step on mine because I bought off the lot and didn't get the tailgate step. My last truck had one and I felt I couldn't do without; been around the sun too many times. The one I installed is rock solid.

The rear is higher on Lightning and the step is near half way up. Can be used tailgate up or down. I'll miss the handle but just the side of the bed works for balance.

As others have said, this is normal.

If you don't like the high rear you can:
  1. Install a lowering kit to make it look level. This is popular among folks who drive trucks but don't use them as trucks.
  2. Use it like a truck and carry something back there.
  3. Use it like a truck and attach a trailer.
