Will You be buying the Lightning EREV?

Will You be 'buying' the Lightning EREV?

  • Yes - The Lightning EREV range extender will be useful

  • No - The current Lightning provides sufficient range/capabilities for long term ownership

  • Unsure - Will have to see the final Lightning EREV specs/pricing

  • Other - Will leave the Lightning for something different (other brand EV truck, gas F-150 etc...)

The poll question assumes the answer - why assume it is an "upgrade" and why influence the poll with that term built into the question?

I am glad I got my Lightning while I could,
I am grateful for the amazing capabilities of this truck.
I plan to drive it 8-10 years, and by then, in 2032-2034 there will be new EV trucks that will make my Lightning seem quaint, I am sure.

Changed thread title & poll using the phrase "Buying" instead of "Upgrade"

Doesn't impact my opinion, I'll still give it strong consideration for my needs when details and drive tests are available.

This is what i said in another thread... I owe $0.00 on my Lightning and I plan on keeping it another 6-10 years and hopefully by then, EV trucks like this will have Solid State batteries that will go 800 miles and charge in a fraction of the time our batteries charge now.

I believe full EVs are the future of driving... not EREVs.

Did not check to see if this has been posted already, apologies if it has...

Yes -- by and large, most buyers don't plug in their plug-in hybrids. Ever.

Up until last fall, most dealers sold plug-in hybrids as a hybrid with a bigger tax rebate.

At the end of the day, an EREV is just one possible architecture for a plug-in hybrid. We don't have any reason to believe that people will treat it differently than any other plug-in hybrid: I fully expect that Ford dealers will pitch it as "performs like an electric, but you never have to plug it in and it runs great on regular gas".

I've chimed in already, however I had a thought yesterday, while at work, on An E-REV variant that I would be interested in, that being an F250 'class' truck. Bigger, Beefier for more towing capacity, etc.

As far as a direct replacement, Every Day, Storm makes me smile, and if I ever Have to replace my truck, it will be with another BEV, not an EREV.
