Hey @Ford Motor Company (Brian specifically), I wanted to say I appreciate your telling us the news upfront. I am sure you donned your asbestos undies prior to posting this update, knowing it was not going to go over well with Lightning owners.

One of the best decisions Ford has made recently was having an ambassador, such as yourself, engage directly with the community. Hopefully you have communicated back up to Ford that they created something special that I hope they revisit in the near future. And I say that having owned a Ford truck continuously since my very first new vehicle purchase of a 1994 Ford Ranger through many F250’s and F150’s since. Even beating out my all time favorite, my 2002 F250 7.3L Powerstroke F250 with a manual 6spd.

I think what most people would agree with is that it would be fine as an OPTION, but forcing the engine on everyone will probably push as many people away as it will bring ones in. If it was something that I could have installed in the bed when I needed it and removed when I didn't I might want one too honestly (not right now as my use case doesn't require it, but maybe in the future). It just seems like GM made the better option, a truck with a huge battery that charges fast so even if you're towing it isn't that bad. Hell, I'd even be fine towing with the Lightning battery if it charged faster.

Literally at Chevy dealer right now. Thinking of trading in my 23 lightning lariat (which I love) for a Silverado ev. Not sure on fence still. Will take heavy loss on trade in. However I am Very concerned about support. Based on what I’ve read here some dealerships refused to or couldn’t service these trucks when they were in production. I have no faith ford will do the right thing for its customers.

I understand your motivation, however, there is a very real possibility that Chevy/GM will follow along with Ford's decision which is unfortunately based on yesterday's/today's market.

I would be interested in an EREV under two conditions.

1 - Not completely losing the frunk
2 - Must still be able to plug in to charge

If it has both of those, then my day-to-day BEV lifestyle continues, AND I am covered for longer roadtrips to areas that, sadly entering 2026 still do not have good charging options. It would also completely free you from fast charging.

As it sits, the truck is great for 95% of our use, but those edge cases are where it loses its luster.

Yes, losing the frunk would be a deal breaker but I wonder where else they have to package an engine/generator combo??

And yes, if I can let it run out of gas and just use the EV, it'll work for me. I just hate the fact of buying more (like two powertrains) than I need.

Can't say delivering this news was a career highlight for me, and I really appreciate your understanding. At least from my point of view... I'll continue to be in here and provide information and updates for y'all. As I said, I'm not going anywhere.

I'm most certainly a "no". I'm in my late 40s. My partner is in their mid-50s. We want a chance to retire - at least if we don't have to flee this country. (I'm a triple citizen, so look up the news).

Our goal has always been to pay off all our consumer loans int he next two years, and then our mortgage in the next five to ten. The Truck was (and is) part of our energy security strategy for this place.

Additionally, I've been driving EVs now for just about 20 years. Our last car with an engine was 10 years ago - and that was a vehicle that ended up only ever turning its engine on because IT needed us to -not because we needed it to.

The lightning BEV, our 2017 Bolt EV, and my Vectrix VX-1 (currently off the road) are all the transport we need that isn't human-powered. I've got a deposit down on an Aptera, but I don't hold a huge amount of hope it will turn into an order. We'll see...

But take a truck we almost own and replace it with one that will cause us more pain, suffering, and maintenance costs? Nah. I'm good.

And by the looks of this poll, so many of you are too. I've been asking around some of my contacts at Ford - and let's just say, while they can't say anything negative... I'm inferring a lot of... "Well F...."
