I met up with some buddies last weekend and was excited to put the sub compartment in the Mega Power Frunk to good use.
Ford F-150 Lightning (WTF) No Drain Plug in Mega Power Frunk!? 20220807_090312

Loaded it up with a few drinks and ice since we'd be hanging out in the blistering heat & crazy humidity - only to get to my destination and realize all the ice melted and drained away. It then dawned on me that there's no plug for this drain. WTF 😭

Anyone have a solution? This is honestly such a crippling oversight. It's like the engineers that were responsible for adding this feature, never actually used a cooler before. lol

Yeah its gotta be intentional.
1. Idiot puts ice in frunk.
2. Frunk gets couple inches of water.
3. Idiot starts car and takes a turn.
4. ?????
5. Water into outlet

I don’t know what’s under the frunk, but adding a drain plug to plastic should be straight forward.

I'm more concerned about your drink and snack choices than how they idiot proofed the front trunk.

Hahaha I knew it was only a matter of time before someone called that out!

My buddies and I all have GT4/Spyder's, so we planned a group buy & install of new air filters. I knew we'd be hot as hell working on the cars outside, so I grabbed mostly water and Gatorade.

You could probably block the drain hole with a piece of plastic and yank the thing out to drain

It's not a cooler. Ice melts very fast. Pretty clear there is no plug.

How long did it take for the ICE to melt?
I'd say less than an hour! My 2nd gen Ridgeline had the same feature, but had a drain plug so it lasted much longer.

Yep, the solution is right there with the ice bag. It will probably weep enough water to avoid the frunk as a bathtub.
I tried that as well, but there isn't a tight seal, so the water still leaked/drained.

Ideally, I think if we could 3D print a plug, that would solve the problem! 🤞🏼

I guess Ford assumed if you can afford a Lightening you can afford a cooler.

Has the frunk ever been advertised as a cooler? I would not believe it to be insulated and to my knowledge electric motors still generate heat.
