The pucker factor on this one will be high! 113 miles with major elevation gain. It would be impossible in an SR like mine, while towing a trailer.

It's been about 10 years since I've been out that way but it seemed at the time going westbound on I-40 from Flagstaff that it was downhill pretty much all the way to the river crossing.

There will be slow moving 18 wheeler type trucks going up the steeper hills, maybe tuck in behind one of those on the bigger climbs to reduce your energy usage, not from any wind advantage but rather just for a slower speed. 35 up the steep hills behind an 18 wheeler would probably help a lot.

The math of this attempt makes my brain hurt.

At the Seligman NEMA 14-50R, at best you will get around 9kw/hr assuming your EVSE does the full 40 amps allowed on a 14-50R. That would get you 20.6% after 3 hours.

If you're using the Ford Mobile Charger you will only get 32 amps and about 7kw after losses. 3 hours would only get you 16%.

You'll have to watch your efficiency like a hawk. Leaving Kingman at 100% and going to 10% at 0.8mi/kwh only gets you 94.4 miles according my calculations, this is just straight math, 118kwh (90% of 131) x 0.8 = 94.4. Using this manual calculation of 0.8, you would arrive at Seligman around 31%. 90.25kwh used, 131kwh battery, 72.2 miles traveled from Kingman Supercharger to Rte 66 historic general store in Seligman.

By my manual calculations you need rougly 60.5 kwh in the battery to make it to Williams with 10% left, 60.5x0.8=48.4, distance to Williams Supercharger 44 miles.. Roughly 46% SOC or so. So you'd need a little over two hours on the slow charger at Seligman, assuming Ford Mobile Charger @7KW.

HOWEVER...

ABRP seems to think you will arrive at Seligman with 12% with a Lightning ER manally set in the ABRP settings at 0.8mi/kwh, seems lower than my estimate for some reason. Maybe because it's assuming driving the speed limit and the hills, and factoring in additional losses for those, although my 0.8 already factors those things in.

It is 44 miles from the general store in Seligman to the Tesla Supercharger in Williams. At 0.8mi/kwh in ABRP you'll need 60% to get there with 8%.

Not sure whether to believe ABRP or not. But anyway.

These calculations all work a lot better if you can achieve 1.0. But you'll be fighting for every tenth on this route. Good luck.

The last resort options are to ditch the trailer and go grab a Level 3 charge in Williams, then go back and grab the trailer. All part of the adventure

I do this route at times to get to Prescott (turning at seligman). You have a 3500 foot elevation gain from Kingman to Williams. Towing a trailer that alone will account for at least 130 miles loss towing a 21 ft trailer in addition to normal mileage and 50% deration for towing a trailer. Seligman or Ashfork is not really an electric vehicle market.

Ya. We passed a couple semis up the hills, and would bump the speed up to 60 on the downhills. All worked out. Given those numbers I surely could have gone a bit faster. Live and learn.

No surprise that you got 1.4 mpk at 45 mph. It's all about the aerodynamic drag.

I love the idea of a charger at a brewery! I'd definitely plan a stop there.
