Google maps with Carplay now integrated with driver display for some. Possible "fix" is in post 40.

So its being reported with pictures that Google Maps using Carplay now integrates the turn by turn into the driver display. The only catch is it doesn't seem to work for everybody (including myself).
Most people are reporting this after updating to one of the most recent Google Maps version on iOS. It does not seem to be related to recent iOS version, or any OTA for the truck.
I however have all the updates for everything (almost) and it is not working.

Based on some questions to those who have it, the combination needed may be related to the truck having the dealer updates giving them walk away lock and/or the Carplay performance TSB.

Can others with Carplay confirm if google maps now integrates into their driver display? If so what iOS version and Google map version do you have? Did you get the TSB for Carplay done, or do you have walk away lock functioning?

It has already been reported working on 22 and 23 models that I have seen.

Can someone check my VIN to see what I am missing?

Just tested on my 25 Lariat, iOS 18.6.2, Google Maps v25.35.0.7990883550. I show no pending truck software updates. No turn by turn directions in the dash appear.

This is working for me... 2024 Lightning. IOS 18.6.2

I'm pretty sure it's been there for a while.

Turn by turn is NOT working for me. No turn by turn on driver center display. Using Apple Maps I get the turn by turn.

Do you have walk away lock working on your truck? Did you have the CarPlay TSB done by the dealer?

My truck had walk away locks when I got it. The dealer hasn’t done a CarPlay tsb. I’ve only done the current arm joint recall and two weeks it’ll have the GSM service campaign.

It's possible it's a back end thing with Google or Apple. In the past, Google has rolled out features for Google Maps in waves. Could be the same thing.

This feature just showed up in last few days. No update notifications on the truck. I did have an updated Google Map come down on iPhone recently. I have had WAL since 6-9-25.

Regardless of who, when or how, I’m loving it.

Ugh, this is intriguing and frustrating to me. I strongly prefer google maps to apple maps to the point I bought a pixel to test it as a phone I could just leave in the truck but having two phones just didn’t work for me. Just tested mine and it is still not working. I even tried wired carplay to see if that might be it but no dice. I really hope someone figures out why some have it and some don’t/how to get it enabled.

For those for whom it’s working on iphone, are you getting battery status and EV routing or just turn by turn instructions integrated in the driver console?

I have a 23 Lariat and it’s working on mine cluster. Noticed it the other day.
