Dual chargers aren’t an overkill if someone only charges at home andhas very cheap time of use charging. They can charge fully in the limited cheap charging hours.

With my 48a output 11.5 kWh charger it can take me over 10 hours to replenishe after a 225 mile round trip. With dual chargers and a EVSE capable of delivering 80 amps or 19.2 kWh‘s it would take probably only 6 hours.
The first part of my post talks about dual chargers.

The second part of my post is talking about dual charge ports!

There is a very big difference!!! and yes, I generally charge at 80 A, but sometimes I de-rate it to match my solar production so I understand the difference very well!

I just reread your posting. I misunderstood and didn’t realize your were referring to dual ports aka ports on both sides of the truck in your second part of your post.

It was just a fake port to match the driver's side, they got rid of that for 2024.
Thanks for that clarification. Seems like an odd design choice...

@flyct 6 months later any regrets?
No regrets at all.

The ride is awesome. The messaging seats on the Lightning are great.

The efficiency is the only thing that we would like to be better, but that’s comparing it to our a Teslas.

We have 3 years of Blue Cruise included but the roads we normally drive on are not Blue Cruise mapped.

We had 3 service issues in the first month but the local dealership we bought it from repaired 2 of them in my driveway and picked the truck up from my house and dropped off a new loaner for the 3rd issue. The charge port door latch was funky and the door keypad failed. We got a power train fault and the dealer replaced the console shifter. The next 5 months has been problem free.

We keep a powered cooler in the fronk and another one in the truck bed under the tonneau cover. We set the fronk one to -4dF as a freezer and the one in the bed to 34 dF as a fridge. It works well traveling between the house and cabin and also when grocery shopping.

The truck is my vehicle of choice. We love it.

We also have 2 2023 Tesla Model Y’s. I just ordered a 2026 Model Y which I pick up Saturday and trade one of the. 23 Y’s in on it.

We are all electric and love it.

@flyct was it worth going from a lariat to a platinum?

Other than bigger wheels and a (I believe) better leather; what are the differences between a lariat and platinum? I know you can’t get deployable running boards with a lariat.

Edit:

The paak walkway lock - Is it standard on the platinum or is it an option?

Thanks. Looking at buying a lightning platinum hence the questions. Hoping to find a low mile used one.

My 2023 Lariat has powered running boards from factory. I believe that's an add-on all trims can get just not standard equipment. The Paak is also on the Lariat trim and up fyi.

I would love to have the real leather and massaging seats other than that I think the only other major interior upgrade is added speakers. I think the platinum even gets speakers in the head rests if not mistaken. O and the propolosion sound but I doubt that's a deal breaker for anyone.

Eitherway Lariat and up I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

Massaging seats and nicer leather is the only reason to go to a Platinum. My 23 Lariat had everything my Platinum has except for seats.

The only reason I went to the Platinum was the killer deals offered at that time. I got $25,000 off MSRP and zero % interest and ability to walk away after 3 years if residual and value spread was a disadvantage. Those deals no longer exist.

In 2023 you could load up a Platinum with max tow, power running boards etc and stay just below the threshold to qualify for tax credit. That is no longer the case.

So what did I gain going to a 24 platinum? Seats and increased resale value.

What did I loose? I lost 5% range and seats that show dirt compared to the black seats on my Lariat.

Well put. Did the exact same thing in the winter and pretty much summed up the differences. It’s mostly when I ordered my first lightning lariat I couldn’t get any discount and was lucky to pay MSRP. After two years you could make your own deal and ford basically supplementing your monthly payment at 0% while the s&p makes 20% a year- so the platinum made sense.

Overall if you’re asking if there’s a huge difference , no. I have had multiple ford trucks (mostly super duties ) and massaging seats are nice but it’s really about what seats you find most comfortable that matters. I have a 23 f350 platinum that have the max recline —-but got the civid massaging seats delete for $300 ///however I actually think those are the most comfortable seats. The massaging seats have the bladder in them and you can feel even at the lowest setting a tad bit of bulge in your back. My f350 deleted seats are just like the massaging but without the bladder and extremely comfortable. I didn’t like my lightning lariat seats because they felt like vinyl.

Let me add one more thing. My 23 Lariat was Gray as were most of my previous Super Duty trucks. The Gray looks real good. My 24 Platinum is pearl white. In Florida white is more practical if parked outdoors due to the sun beating down.

White shows small rock chips where they hide in the gray paint. Also touch up paint for gray works better than the pearl white due to the multi stage paint process of the pearl white
