Maybe it is just coincidence with the upgrade, but I'll share this here incase others have an issue.

I received BC 1.4 last Friday. The next day I attempted to use adaptive cruise control with lane centering and was having issues. It was having trouble engaging and staying engaged.

I never got a chance to try Blue Cruise until Tuesday this week and it would not engage at all (neither does lane centering at this point). I tried turning lane centering off, and then back on. It would first flash up that lane keeping was engaged followed by an error that “Lane Centering Assist not Available”.

I tried shutting the truck off and trying again, to no avail. Today I tried disconnecting the LVB for several minutes, also to no avail.

I have a service appointment (two weeks out ).

The new IPMA software requires the driver to be wearing the seatbelt for lane centering and BC to work.

I have a question for those that are familiar with the moose and did all of this before the OTA…..

How is it possible that some of us are receiving this update OTA without any extensive battery drain or downtime?

I think it took 15 to 20 minutes for my truck to install 1.4

But people that used a mongoose spent hours and had their battery hooked up to a battery charger

Why is it so much easier on the trucks OTA?

Drove us crazy on the ICE F150 forum when it came out. Jesse and I rolled a few trucks back to the old software thinking Ford botched the update. 🤪

From my understanding of how this works: When the IPMA is updated with the Mongoose, it is updated via CAN which takes a long time. When it is done via OTA, it is updated via ethernet so it writes much faster. Plus on the EV's, the HVB charges the LVB while the vehicle is being updated to offset the draw caused by the OTA installing.

Interesting thank you for that explanation. That makes sort of sense. I think a lot of the lightning guys use battery chargers during the updates as well though.I

My understanding is that there is a threshold LVB charge to initiate an update. If the LVB is below the threshold, will the truck still receive an OTA update and attempt to install it at your designated time (and fail)?

What I'm curious about it whether I need to keep my LVB charged up all the time to get an update, or just let it be, and if an update fails, then I put it on a tender so it will (hopefully) successfully install it the next day?

That is correct. If the LVB does not meet the proper specs in terms of charge, capacity, temperature, BMS data quality and perhaps a few other factors, the OTA will not even attempt to install. The OTA trigger (unless canceled by the server) will remain active for 30 days giving the owner time to charge the LVB up.

Where this system fails, is that instead of the vehicle telling you that you need to charge the LVB, it will just say the OTA was "interrupted by another process" leaving owners in WTF land. If Ford would just replace that "interrupted by another process" message with "you need to charge your 12v battery", the OTA process would be SOOOOOoooooooo much better.

I believe adding the battery tender helped to keep the 12 V battery charged for the 1.4 update. I watched the voltage through my car scan the battery tender did a great job of keeping the voltage up automatically.

NO, there is no LVB conditions for "receiving" the update package, but installing it is when the LVB condition can be a barrier, so unless you've been alerted that a new update is pending, no need to "always" be tending the LVB.

Yes, I've taken the Mrs. out to lunch, this popped up when I parked the truck, I'll install it later after we're home...
