I am finally confirming details of the latest global update we rolled out to the Ford owner app, formerly called FordPass. As you all know, you can access free features like remote start, lock and unlock, plus vital vehicle information.

Ford-App_Hero_Phones-4.webp

With the update you may have noticed:
  • An upgraded Energy tab to view your state of charge, and set a target charge
  • A new look and feel with new fonts and icons for a cleaner, sleeker look
  • Improved ease of use and quicker navigation within the app to access what you need
  • Messaging and alerts are now prioritized, stacked, and more clearly visible so customers can receive and act on the most important information about their vehicle health.
  • For select vehicles, the team has improved the ease of use to get your vehicle ready before hitting the road to set the preferred cabin temperature, heat/ventilate your seats, or heat your steering wheel.
  • Electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid owners will see an upgraded Energy tab:
    • Charge Slider: Slide your finger along the bar to set your target charge
    • State of Charge: Walk away with confidence while charging, and view your state of charge
    • Multiple Vehicles in the Garage: If you have multiple vehicles in your garage, you can give the vehicle a nickname, and the name will appear here so you know exactly which vehicle you are "filling up"
Here’s what the update means moving forward:
Coming off the ground-up rebuild we rolled out last year, the update continues our apps’ evolution from a nice-to-have feature to a central part of Ford and Lincoln ownership. We want to earn the right to be in our customers’ pocket or bag, and that means being incredibly focused on customer feedback.

As a result of refining our processes on the back-end, we are now able to bring features or quality improvements to users from concept to customers’ hands in a shorter amount of time, which will be key for the future customer app experience.

NOTE
: I (Brian) have provided your feedback from this forum (and other online communities) back to the team that you have shared so far.

Our app team’s goal is to ensure we provide a consistent and excellent experience across a range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles with varying capabilities including different app controls and tools, no matter if it is an all-electric F-150 Lightning or Lincoln Navigator.

With this strong foundation in place, from design to back-end processes, the apps will continue to evolve regardless of which vehicle you have. And we’re just getting started.

Well that was uneventful, so when are we getting things like propower back in the app. I’m seeing a small handful of people gaining the feature in the app, they are not eap.

FWIW - I didn't promise anything revolutionary. I did say "there's more than meets the eye".

I'll double down on this point: As a result of refining our processes on the back-end, we are now able to bring features or quality improvements to users from concept to customers’ hands in a shorter amount of time, which will be key for the future customer app experience.

Good to hear... I hope that to be the case. I will say, I do appreciate the effort regarding communication from your side Brian. That is definitely an improvement from what it used to be and it is appreciated.

But here's the thing though, there isn't more than meets the eye. This is the exact same functionality as FordPass in a new skin. Which is what @molsonmatt said two weeks ago.

Also, you're doubling down on a THEORETICAL point because there aren't any "features or quality improvements" in this release. In theory, the "refined processes on the back-end" will bring features that have been asked for repeatedly, but as of today, that's just marketing speak.

Cool to see the Ford execs caring about the app dev cycle - a rare sight.

Since we're asking for app features, I'll just chime in to say to *PRO POWER SWITCHES IN THE APP*

Also, new Rav4 showcasing the ADAS cams used for dashcam footage: (this is prob for the Sync team not the app team but i'll complain to anyone who listens since it could JUST GO TO THE APP IN THE FUTURE)

That’s awesome! Thank u very much for sharing.
I’m surprised it took Toyota this long to integrate this. For the last seven years when you calibrate the SVC on a Toyota/Lexus, it brings up a similar view on the infotainment screen. However, I did not know that the windshield camera normally utilized for AEB & LKA could also view normal images, that’s wild.
In regards to Ford tho, from everywhere else I’ve read, I think they would need to have separate hardware for this.
