Right, to me the appeal is adding a DIY range extender battery pack + inverter in the bed. If you add 30 or 40 kWh worth of batteries you could add some meaningful range for those increasingly rare situations when you need it, and charge and discharge it silently. Keep the tonneau cover closed and nobody is the wiser.- With my '22 LIGHTNING PRO SR already so quiet, where almost any road noise now is easily heard, I would hate think that I had to endure the constant noise of an running generator engine, right behind me, for hours on end.
Like, if I am going somewhere in northern Canada where chargers are sparse, that could be the difference between being able to make the trip or not. But I fully admit such situations are highly unlikely and charging infrastructure is improving quickly.
