Where did you buy your extended warranty?

I’m not looking to debate the perceived value (or lack of value) of the Ford extended warranty. I am just interested in hearing where people got theirs and if they had problems with online sellers.

Looking online, I found Granger Ford and Lombard Ford. They claim to sell the same warranty that my dealer wants to sell me, but at significantly lower cost. My dealer told me that those sites are selling the warranty at below their cost. That made me wonder if those two sites are legit. Has anyone used them?

For reference, Granger Ford quoted about $5500 for a ten year warranty on a new Lightning Lariat. Lombard Ford quoted about $6000 (website listed below). My dealer quoted over $10,000. The two online quotes used a $100 deducible. I didn’t get that far with the dealership because of the huge price difference. I expected them to come back with a lower offer and details on the deductible. Instead, they simply told me that they couldn’t even come close.

Are those sites legit? It makes me wonder if they are selling their own warranty for Ford vehicles and not the Ford Protect PremiumCare EV plan.

Granger is going to be the least expensive. After you buy it, you'll be able to have your dealer service department confirm that the new policy is in place. They are totally legal, unless you live in CA and FL.

I used www.floodfordesp.com They're like Granger in the fact they're both Ford dealerships that sell esp's online. You select what ever deductible you wish to pay for.

Can't say about the other one, never heard of them and your dealer can match prices, they just don't want to.

I used Granger shortly after I purchased my truck. I only added on 2 years just because Ford B2B is only 3. The only annoyance is there is no longer any way to check the status of it yourself, you'll have to ask at a dealer service dept like someone else said.

North Texan here: I bought my 1st year Lightning on November 5, 2022 with an extended warranty @ $5,300 from my Dealer @ Southwest Ford in Weatherford, TX. Couldn't really shop around back then because there was near zero dealer availability with > 18 month waiting list for orders, so my experience isn't relevant to your "shop around" question. I just wanted to pipe in to share my experiences with maintaince and repairs 37 months and 38,000 miles later and how my extended service warranty has panned out since my Lightning is still under the standard warranty and how the extended one has defrayed maintainence/service costs... which as expected are VERY low compared to ICE: BTW this is my 1st EV and I'll never go back. I also planned to keep my Lightning for my standard 10 years when purchasing.

The only maintainence I have required has been the routine 10,000 mile tire rotation/inspections from my dealer: I have had three at zero cost instead of the listed $30/each saving $90

Repairs: all r/t tires. Early on (2,700 miles) I had a side wall puncture requiring a new tire which was zero cost saving $389. I have had two flat repairs @ zero cost, saving $70 ($35 each).

There has been 4 recall repairs/fixes at no cost: one done at my home (replace the dashboard rubber mats), three at the dealer: charge port upgrade, rear light bar reseal and battery module replacement. All had at home pick up/return with an included complimentary car. And waiting for another recall repair of the rear light bar "when parts are available" (Feb '26?)

That's it: $549 maintainence/repair costs for "free" from my $5300 extended service warranty while under the standard warranty. I have no regrets, despite Ford pulling out of the EV market: the future is uncertain. But Ford has assured us Lightning owners that they will service/have parts available for the next 10 years... but at what cost and on what time frame?

I expect my future costs to be "free"... until 2032. By then EV technology will be so far ahead of my 2022 model, my truck will truly be a classic.

And of course my next EV will not be a Ford: they have decided to let China rule.

Granger Ford is well known here and even has an active presence on the forum.

They are often recomended and I have not seen one bad report.

Flood Ford is also mentioned frequently.

If I purchase a warranty I will have no hesitation buying from Granger.

My son (Mach-E) and myself bought from Granger. They are legit. Search this forum for their posts.

If this is your first new Ford, be aware that some dealers sell warranties that are not Ford ESP. Higher margin for them. And usually a worst deal for you.

I bought mine from Granger, and showed the quote to the finance manager at my dealer to see if she could beat it, she said they couldn't come close to it (but didn't mention how close).

In the past I've also bought 3-4 from Flood Ford for other cars, and on a couple of those got a prorated refund when I traded in and that process was very smooth and no hassle at all.

I don't know how direct of a comparison this might be since the duration and miles covered are different, but I got a 4yr/150k premium plan from Granger for $1,670. So Granger is definitely worth looking into...

I purchased mine through Granger in August just before my three year warranty ran out. I used it a couple of weeks ago at my local dealer in Michigan and there were no issues.

I worked for Ford and was able to find the dealer cost for extended warranties and the suggested retail price. There was a significant markup. I would bring the cost sheet to the dealer and tell them I would pay $200 more than their cost. Always worked because they get incentives from Ford to sell them.

Yes the Granger ext warranty I bought is full Ford coverage, it shows in my Ford App the day I purchased it.

View it's purchase date in the Service tab, Service History.
