Love your content Nikki and great video on the conversion. But, I'm a cattle rancher and that life leads to quick forward reverse shifts. The stick works great for me and I do get it out of sync once and a while but simply retract it and it's all happy after that. One of my trucks has a rotary transfer case shifter and it leads to getting stuck because you're fumbling with it on the dash instead of driving. :) That being said the rotary conversion would benefit the vast majority of Lightning owners especially freeing up of space and work surface usability. Keep up the great EV content.

Cows. Now you're talking my language (Dairy Farm Girl)

I did think about this when planning the video, and here on our little 1/3 acre, it's less problematic. But I can see it causing problems in larger service. I wonder if it's possible to replace the motorized shifter with a 'simpler' one to avoid the potential failure points?

Watching that print on the X1C without problems gives me a tear for the one time I tried printing PA6-CF on my P1S; but likely an issue with the supplied PEI printbed.

Yah, PA6-CF is most certainly one of those "need enclosures and massive heat management and super dry filament" :(

Finally got around to trying the insert in the OEM tub, pardon the draft finish. Plan to print again myself as I had some layer separation and the corners lifted off the bed screwing up the carbon fiber pattern a bit. I also didn't like the position of the z seam, and would recommend locating them towards the center console. Can also do a finer layer height (could probably go down to 0.1mm) to reduce lines on the visible face and eliminate need for any post-processing.

Great press fit on the shifter module with the tabs removed. Fits pretty well in the tub with some minor sanding on the draft faces. I went ahead and tightened the corner radius nearest the driver so it should fit even better than displayed here. The nice thing is it's a blind press into the tub when installed so you can make future modifications without needing to rip the console apart again once the tub itself is installed. It presses in surprisingly well and doesn't move around at all, but for security I suppose you could double sided tape it in place.. Only requisite modification from OEM is the hole for the harness to pass through, and I cut the bottom mat to fit the new length and cover the mounting bolt. Debated cutting the tray cover to fit as well but don't think I could get a clean enough edge against the print face.

Attached are all the models for the insert and the OEM tub (.steps, .stl and .sldprt included for SW for Makers users) if anyone wants to modify further. Unfortunately probably won't work as-is with the foldable work surface, at least not without mutilating the bottom tub. At that point I'd probably recommend just sourcing the complete custom tub from @ENDianDigital. But if somebody wants to try I'm open to help adjust the model accordingly.

Just wanted to give a HUGE thanks for sharing these files. I’ve been following the ICE F150 forum for sometime and this thread was mentioned, so I’ve been reading through here as well. I’ve been intrigued to try to tinker with my own version for what I prefer and this was of tremendous help. This may be a silly question, but did you design the OEM tub as well @boggle?

Source files for the OEM tub (ML3Z-1513530-AA) should be in that attached zip file already, think I included a .STEP and .STL along with the source .SLDPRT.

Yes, sir. The files were included and much appreciated. I was just more so curious if you had actually created the model for it, because if so, that’s impressive (and again, super helpful as well).

Oh, misunderstood. Yeah those are my models, ENDian was kind enough to send over the tub and I modeled it. Wasn't too far off from the custom one he had originally shared. But I wanted to get an OEM baseline, figured it'd be helpful if anybody wanted to create their own derivatives. Free use and all that jazz, glad its been helpful.

I really wanted to get power to my @PolymerBuilt cubby so I could have wired CarPlay and generally have a distaste for exposed wiring. I ended up buying one of these and just winging it. 5/8in spade cut through pretty cleanly with slow steady pressure.

If the cubby wall was 2mm thinner I could have put the finishing cap on but can't see it when the phone is attached. I think I used a 3/8 to get into the console and then finished with a grommet.

The pictured cable is one of these but Ive since replaced with this one for a cleaner look.

This is the 17mm ball to MagSafe mount pictured.

That's nicely done. Is there an advantage to wired CarPlay?
I'd prefer wireless charging...that is good wireless charging vs what is on the truck now.

Mainly, I find it more reliable. It also supposedly provides a less compressed audio stream but I'd take that with a grain of salt.

I do wireless CarPlay (terrible name).
XM audio, not through my phone, is mediocre at best.
Spotify, through my phone and CarPlay, is outstanding.
I don't need lossless in a vehicle, but without even trying you can notice the difference in audio quality (for music) as XM is terrible...yet you might not know this without streaming Spotify through the same device.
