YMMV but I have Ford's Charge Station Pro running at 80A on a 100A breaker since 2023 and it only failed to charge *once* (and I'm reasonably confident I didn't have the plug all the way in). Some users report trouble with it, but mine has been fine. I *did* get it free with my purchase since they used to come with it, but when we got our second, I put in an Emporia 48A that has also been solid for us (just not *quite* as fast). I think people flip the FCSP pretty cheaply now compared to MSRP, I am not going to go look, but I think it has/had a $1500 MSRP and I have seen them flip brand new for a third of that... the integration with the app and truck hasn't been an issue for me either.
Good luck!

While heat is generally the enemy of electronics, I'm not sure spending $3000 on an overkill charger setup because it'll "last longer" is a solid investment when you can buy four new chargers for the difference in cost, but to each their own I suppose.
How are you getting $3000?
My install for a 100A circuit was $1000, my brother paid the same price for a 60A circuit.
I see FCSP as low as $600 used or $850 new in box and Grizzle-E 80A are $900 new. An Emporia hardwire is $430. So all in, you're looking at $200-$500 difference in price. I don't understand where you get four new chargers for that difference?

Why did ford limit the 24 and 25 year models to 48a?
IMHO:
1. They eliminate the second On-board charger saving the material and labor cost of installing a relatively expensive module. Allowed them to absorb cost increases in other areas.
2. They know how we charge and likely discovered few Lariats/Plats were charging above 48A. Pro's and XLT have always had that limit and it seemed to suit them okay.
3. It is still available as an option to the fleet customers who were likely using it more. It's a $1500 option.

Bottom line: cost savings in an evolving market and research around where costs could be shaved without hurting sales.
I gladly would have taken a $500 credit when I bought my truck to eliminate the second charger.

My install for a 100A circuit was $1000, my brother paid the same price for a 60A circuit.
And my cousins, uncles, half twin paid $0 for his 200A circuit becuase he's an electrician and already had a 800A panel and surplus material.

The ammount of people paying $1000 for a 100A install are probably far and few between. Did your brother look into getting 100A and in that case how much was it ?

I'm sure there's plenty of ways to justify the install cost if it's important to you, all I was saying is that longeivity of your charger probably isn't one of them, but it's a free world (kind of anyway) so you do whatever floats your boat.

I just wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic or not claiming a $3000 difference. My install was March 2023 through Qmerit, my brother's was Feb 2025 also through Qmerit. I can show you receipts if you don't believe me. No, he didn't ask for a 100A circuit. As you pointed out, not everyone cares, his priority was keeping upfront cost down.

If you think about it, the labor for an install is essentially the same, so upgrading to 100A is just material cost difference. That's maybe what, $200? So all in we'd be $400-$700 difference. If I had the money, I'd probably go that route. I like future proofing, I like that it's less wear and tear, and it's crazy hot hear in the summer so anything that reduces heat in the garage is a good thing.

If you really believe it's more, I'm happy to be educated. I'm not advocating that everyone should over engineer their installs. I'm just trying to point out that 1) it does lengthen longevity and 2) it is not completely unreasonable.

Sorry, Ford removed the dual onboard chargers for the 24's and 25's. The only exception that I recall was for fleet Pro's.

Fleets could also get the Flash with dual chargers. I've only seen one person confirm they had one though so I'm guessing those are few and far between.

My FCSP is set to 80A and has been serving us well for almost 3 years now.

We are still debating if we're going to buy a plugin hybrid or just go electric for my girlfriend. I think we're leaning towards EV. If we get another EV, I will probably install another charger instead of trying to share the FCSP.

Model year 2022 or 2023 any trim... You have 80 amp charging.

Model year 2024 or 2025 you need to check your window sticker, but you probably don't have it. Only a small chance that you do.
