Other than my own financial ignorance, are there any reasons I should not buy a Lightning now that they are discontinued? I was a die hard GM guy in the past, but lost confidence in GM or gm now. I test drove a Tesla model 3 and new I wanted an EV so I bought a Mach E mostly due to the service locations being closer than Tesla, and I liked that the battery was serviceable, and I think they look much better. I immediately had software issues with the Mach E that took some time to work out, and a leaking CV axle seal. I still love the car and wanted to wait till it was paid off to buy a Lightning, but the whole discontinued thing happened. If the new EREV models loose the frunk that would be terrible. I have test driven one and really want to pull the trigger. Any issues that I need to be aware of?

Knowing (guessing) you’ve already watched a hundred videos on it, honestly the weakest link in our trucks seems to be the silly 12V battery. Why there’s so much reliance on a this tiny battery in a vehicle full of batteries is puzzling to me, but what do I know.

Otherwise as long as you’re good with everything else you know they’re unbelievably, well-made vehicles. I would argue possibly the best thing Ford has made. Ever.

Early on, the majority of complaints seemed to be from people who were not familiar either through experience or available information with EV’s or trucks.
You are experienced with BEV’s.
My suggestion: Recognize that the Lightning is a half ton pickup.
It drives and handles better than ICE pickups but not like a small coupe or sedan car.
BTW - I’ve owned half ton pickups for almost 50 years including Rangers and F150’s. This is the best one ever. My 72 IHC was a death trap.

Seen some videos on them, and from what I see most people love them. I have had 1/2 ton gas trucks, and 3/4 ton gas trucks. I currently have a 2007 classic Silverado 2500 and it does what I need, but the rust is taking over, and 6-8 mpg towing and 12 mpg just driving sucks. I have a B series Kubota tractor and trailer (probably ~5-6k lbs) that I tow on a rare occasion and a 4500lb non 5th wheel camper that is also towed on a rare occasion (mainly stays at a seasonal), those would be the heaviest things I would tow. Main thing I would tow more frequently would be a snowmobile trailer with 2-3 ATV's. My round trip with the ATV's would be about 150 miles. I was hoping that with the 131 kWh battery that I could squeeze out the trip on a charge.

My only regret or worries with Ford canceling the Lightning is that I cannot upgrade to the next gen in a few years. Now that we’ve been spoiled, its tough to think of having to go with a smaller less serious truck or a Fridgidair on wheels…

As long as you can charge level 2 at home your solid don't even worry to much about the amps as long as you charge over night you will never notice it. Charging at lvl 3 unless doing a road trip is a waste of time and money. The truck can easily tow those items you mentioned and unless it's cold outside your range should not be an issue to worry with. But like any thing In life you need hands on experience to feel comfortable and as most will atest to here the truck is AMAZING!

+1. ...with a Lightning at just over 94 thousand miles. And I also am a former Mach E Premium Tech Package owner.
