I think the size could be nice for a smaller truck, but I just hate the higher and higher belt lines on newer vehicles. It might be a cheap and easy way to get improved side impact ratings, but it makes for a bathtub-like driving experience. The reduced visibility ends up making driving more dangerous in my opinion.

One of my favorite things about the F150 and all F-Series trucks aside from already having lower belt lines by nature being full size trucks, the front window swoop for the mirror actually provides additional ground visibility around the truck and lowers the perceived belt line while inside.

Immediately I’m thinking that a standard cab with a full sized bed would be a good addition to the product line if sales take off but utility trailers are also a thing. Also, this is small enough they can sell it in Europe.

This week I used ZERO grid power to drive my 2022 Lightning Lariat. As a matter of fact my wife even charged her Cadillac Lyric V on my setup. I have an off-grid 9.3kw solar system I installed myself with 40kwh of LFP batteries. It cost me about 15,000 for everything. I pay nothing for "fuel", and haven't for 3 years. I was paying over $1,000 a month previously. Sorry that's for another post.............

But now I see that GM is investing in Sodium batteries which will ultimately make its way into EV's if they are successful, and Ford is developing a tiny trucks and gas powered generators. Seriously Ford, you're going backwards.

No thanks. What’s the point of owning a truck that isn’t capable of being a truck. I doubt I will buy another Ford - certainly not as long as Floundering Farley is in charge.

I know it was expensive but what set Ford apart was that the Lightning looks and feels like a real truck. Even the GM trucks have that ugly Avalanche slant.

This new one looks like a Ridgeline with less room. Probably fine for fleet sells but I would rather have a car than a flip flop on wheels.

I wonder how the SUV/Wagon version of this stack up next to R2. And if the quality/capability/feature gap between the two can justify the price difference

This could work for me if it has a half way decent tow rating. If the charging speed and range are significantly improved over the Lightning I might really be tempted. I’m going to be taking a close look at the specs when they come out.

Well, the Maverick is 2,000/4,000 pounds and the Ranger (US) is 3,500/7,500.

7,500 would be really useful and something I could consider. 4,000 not so much.

Oh seems like fairy dust again. Something to compete with the economical Slate truck that may or may not come out? Something to drive up the speculative costs on lithium and other rare earths? Say it ain’t so.

This is something else that will die on the vine or be so poorly conceived and released that Ford will just try and feed everyone memberberries to have you forget.

I love my Lightning. A next gen version would need only two major improvements: significantly better software and a more affordable trim to drive sales. I was very interested in what the T3 was shaping up to be before they cancelled it.

Instead we get an EREV and this tiny compromise with a small bed, and I'm not interested in either.

Dealers make money off of repairs. Ford can make money off the parts. So right to repair could work fine for Ford especially if they have monopoly on specific parts. If the Lightning taillight that goes for $2K, cost Ford $100, selling cars would be like selling printers and parts would be like ink cartridge. Selling your data on the side wouldn’t hurt either.
