Lightning engaging brakes while backing down boat ramp

My Lightning is engaging its brakes aggressively while I am trying to back my boat down a ramp to launch it. Has anyone else experienced this? I have always disconnected my boat from the trailer before launching so that I can just back it down and launch it without getting out of my truck then drive away. But now with this truck aggressively applying its brakes as I back down I am uncomfortable unhooking the boat from the trailer before backing down. I have researched this forum and have not found any mention of this happening to anyone else. Any suggestions?

Disable the reverse brake assist setting and see if that helps. Not 100% sure on the name but I think it will make sense when you see it.

Is that a one time thing, or do you have to do it every time? Anyways I will look for that, I am not familiar with that setting. Thanks, I hope that solves it.

Yes, 1 pedal is always on, maybe I will try turning it off first. I found and disabled reverse assist but I am not sure I want that off.

I found and disabled reverse assist but I am not sure I want that off.

Turn it off when you are getting ready to launch, and turn it back on after you have recovered the boat.

I have been boating for as long as I can remember. Why do you unplug the trailer when launching?

1) Why are you unplugging the trailer? That is the problem. The truck has an entire trailer menu. Did you set yours up? Leave it plugged in. Nothing needs to be turned off if you use the system properly.

2) Nobody in their right mind disconnects the boat winch when backing down a ramp. Remove the tiedowns, but never disconnect the winch. You might be a boat ramp video if you do that.

There is no use in being insulting, I have been boating for 50 years. I have always unplugged the trailer before backing into the water. Electricity, hot bulbs, and water do not play well together.

I suggest you switch to sealed led lights. And do not unplug the trailer.

I have always unplugged the boat trailer to keep from shorting out the truck's wiring , because my boat trailer is always old...

I agree with the previous post on one pedal, I have had similar issues of aggressive braking when backing down a steep driveway with 1 pedal on.

There is no use in being insulting, I have been boating for 50 years. I have always unplugged the trailer before backing into the water. Electricity, hot bulbs, and water do not play well together.

I was taught to unplug the trailer lights before submerging the trailer as well. Cheap insurance.

Curious if turning off 1 pedal fixes your issue or not.
