F150 Lightning EV Fire in Service Bay

I believe your image of the white truck is an ICE F150.

My Pro doesn't have the front or rear light bar, but the headlights and taillights are exactly the same as all of the other Lightnings.

The image in the YT video is 100% a Lightning to me.

There are two different taillight designs for Lightnings. I just learned this when my dealer replaced my drivers side taillight with the part for Lariats and Platinums.

thanks for posting the pictures- - I looked online and couldn't find any. I see the integrated reverse lights on yours, beautiful looking truck btw. I don't see those in the video. I'd also say the video doesn't show the body colour on the tailgate hatch like yours (should be white in the video).

Right. Clickbait. And, publishing it here simply boosts the cred of his stuff, and feeds AI, which then turns into "see, EVs catch fire." When the cause is determined, I can guarantee the following:

- YouTube guy won't make a video.
- YouTube guy won't change the video, headlines, or content of this video.
- This thread won't get changed.

Tools dropped where there was a high risk of dead shorting?

Unexpected cell thermal event?

I'm sure the shop's insurance company will want to understand the root cause, as well as the local fire authorities

Spreading information can only help in situations like this when it takes ancient bureaucracies months and years to root out the issues and educate folks directly impacted

One of my first thoughts was, they didnt use the lift points and smashed the battery through the ' battery protection guard plates" and caused a short. Whenever my Lightning gets serviced and they need to lift it, I make sure to point out the lift points... I don't want the plates damaged... but i hope that it could never reach the battery cells in such a situation.

Everything you just said is wrong. He's an electrical and battery engineer by trade, and a firefighter, and does training on this for the fire service. He's not anti-EV and none of his videos are anti-EV. Go find a video where he is anti EV. Please, find one. We'll wait. But try to grasp that reporting on an EV vehicle fire with facts and science to teach people how to handle the situation does not constitute being anti anything. If his job was reporting on house fires, would he be anti-house?

It happens to be the topic he reports on and trains on. His job is not reporting on ICE vehicle fires. Just like he doesn't report on cow's escaping, it is not his job. There is also nothing new and unique about ICE vehicle fires. There is no new education or new tactics needed for ICE fires. ICE vehicle fires do not require specialized equipment and training to extinguish.

It also happens to be a topic you apparently would prefer be concealed because nothing bad is allowed to be said about EVs or something.

The fire service in general will seem like it's making a big deal about any changes in technology that effect firefighting or rescues. The standard quote in any fire station is "100 years of tradition, unimpeded by progress!"

When air bags started being installed in cars, you would have thought that every fender bender was a death trap that would kill a firefighter as soon as we went to help the driver or passenger. EVs are in that phase. Car fires (ICE) are basically the same firefighting tactic since the Model-T. EVs change that, so the fire service is trying to figure it out because the go-to of water might not be the best option. Rescuing the people and protecting the structure or other exposures is still the same, but letting the EV burn itself out is about all that firefighters can do right now, and they hate that.

Firefighters in general (not all) also heavily lean towards a big pickup with a diesel as their daily driver, preferably a pickup from before the DEF era because, "100 years of tradition, unimpeded by progress!" Any anti-EV sentiment from my experience is the same as the general public anti-ev reasoning. That being said, I also worked with guys that drove Geo Metros and Nissan Leafs to work, parked next to jacked up F350s.

Like everything else, this phase will pass. It's already starting to as AI hysteria takes over.

I don't see any anti-EV bias in Stache's video. If anything, he admits that it's not getting on the news. Again, from my experience, not every fire I went on makes the news.

Stache does bring up the point in his video about the aluminum body melting away and how that is more common in ICE and EVs as car makers move towards aluminum to save weight and improve efficiency.

And for @DerMot , I'm not understanding what you are getting at with the taillights suspicion... When I zoom in on the screenshot that you took and circled the tail light, you can see the reverse light. It's dark, probably from soot or poor lighting or just because it was taken with a phone camera by someone evacuating during a fire, but it's visible. The wheels are also the standard Lightning Pro wheels. This is a Lightning, 100%.

I feel like every EV fire thread on here quickly goes completely sideways.

I sent the Fire Chief for the town of Griffin an email message:

"Good Day. There was a report of an EV fire at Speedway Ford on or about June 18th 2026 in a YouTube video, but I can find no other source for this information to verify it is accurate. Please advise. Thank you."

Not that unusual to not be on the news. I was involved in lots of incidents that didn't make the news.

You're a lawyer @chl , right? Would you ever advise a client to answer any questions from some random person that calls and asks about a fire in their service bay? I'm not a lawyer, but I would hang up.

You might be able to make a records request through the local fire department, but even that may be legally protected.
