I was looking at new F150 lightnings at a couple of local dealers in Arkansas. There were several unsold, then all of a sudden they all disappeared. Did ford but them back, or did they sell them at auction or what?

They likely sold them to other dealers, or traded them.

No, Ford did not buy them back.

Every day the available amount drops. Do a national search via 3rd party sites, or keep changing the zip code on Ford.com.

I know a week or two ago there were like a dozen Platinums left in the country.

EV sales are through the roof the last few months (seen the price of gas? It's just getting started IMO), and they aren't making any more.

Lightly used from a seller who underprices relative to the market (KBB is thousands behind, so if someone relies on it, they may leave $5-8k on the table from what I am seeing); that's the route I'd choose today as a buyer.

Good luck,

If you are using third party sites, pay attention to the MSRP. Some of the sites have the Lariat and Flash models listed as XLTs. If you limit your search to a certain model you may miss the one you are looking for.

The Flash I recently bought was listed as a XLT but I knew a XLT did not have a $75k MSRP

Sounds like some of the same lazy behavior that caused many dealers to not know how to effectively sell the Lightning is at least resulting in some good deals for used buyers.

A bit far from Arkansas but the dealership near me in Catskill New York has had a white platinum on their lot for at least nine months and maybe longer. I’ve contemplated buying to complement the Mach E I bought there almost 9 months ago but between the high price and limited towing range with our small RV, I’m holding off to see what the next generation EREV looks like. If though they keep making the deal better and bring back 0% financing it would eliminate one obstacle and I might decide the limited range towing is workable.if stay local and plan carefully for longer trips.

Also be aware, that many dealers will leave listings on 3rd party sites LONG after they are sold. So it may be listed for 268 days, but they have not had the truck for 6 months. They do this to try to bait you to come to the dealership, so they can try to switch you to something else. 3rd party sites don't care as they get paid to list them. FTC has been sending allot of letters and naming dealers for deceptive practices of late. some of the 3rd party sites are now also trying to clean up their practices due to the FTC now as well. Result is allot of listings have suddenly disappeared.

When I was looking prior to purchasing my 23 Lariat a few months back, I limited my search to those with range > 300 miles to weed our SR. I quickly realized dealers incorrectly list the range, so a truck could be an ER when listed as a SR. The one I found was listed as SR but is an ER. So don't limit yourself to that criteria.

Yeah, the first one I looked at was being sold at a Jeep dealership. I specifically asked them to verify that it was an ER, not a SR. They did. I drove the hour + over there and discovered it was an SR. I knew more about the truck than they did, but they were a Jeep dealer, so I gave them a pass. The second one I found was at a Ford dealer, so I called and had them verify it. I told them that I was 7 hours away and would be very unhappy if it was a SR. :punch:
Fortunately, it was as expected and I drove it home.

I *do* think a $75k MSRP XLT was possible; I just sold our 2023 XLT ER high trim Max Tow/ProPower9.6 which had an MSRP of $73.5k. Very loaded but I'm sure I could have found $1500 more worth of options. I have seen *numerous* Lariats with MSRPs as low as 66k (SR) so there was some serious overlap in pricing.
