It doesn't look small in that pic! it doesn't even look that small judging by the winter testing photos where you can see a man inside.

I spy a rear 3/4 charge port, though. This is heating up and I'm looking forward to the reveal and then going to see it in a showroom. I hope it looks cool.

Welp, they solved two of the biggest issues with the Lightning on a road trip. The new pickup doesn’t take up two spaces or need to have the bumper touching the charger to use the most ubiquitous charger available.

That's actually a Tesla recommendation:

Does the supercharger cable reach all EVs? … Additionally, we encourage all vehicle manufacturers to standardize charge port locations to the rear driver side or front passenger side.

Thi is a great example of Ford saying something, then doing something else. Years back, they were going to replace Sync with Android. Never happened except in limited models to my knowledge. Now totally different.

Of course this is also the Admin trying to get us to go to the Ranchero forum...

I'm curious if it will use CarPlay Ultra, or just use Apple Maps for navigation and preconditioning.

Seems like a good fit. I assume that the vehicle will still have CarPlay, so users can view maps thru CarPlay/iPhone like they do now, or they can choose to use the OEM (AppleKit) feature directly.

I guess apple maps is a step above the Ford nav but that's not saying much. I'll be using AA for the foreseeable future regardless.

Also, I wish people would stop using the term "castings" when referring to stamped or forged parts.

Smart move as long as they keep android auto and CarPlay... I say this as Apple user that uses Apple Maps but I would hate for options for others that prefer other maps to be removed. Ford spending resources on their own maps just to have a default inferior system is a waste. There is no way they will be able to compete with Google and Apple on maps so why bother. Hopefully they can now concentrate on better integration with both Apple and Google Maps instead of wasting time on their own. It will make for a better experience for everyone.

It is a smart move. Apple Maps, IMO, is the current gold standard in navigation apps. It is easily the richest visually, after all the initial noise the routing is now absolutely rock solid, it has increasing utility with police and hazard warnings etc and it's already benefitted from the current EV routing integration with our trucks which just got updates to allow preconditioning and more while Apple Maps is handling navigation.
