Coolant valve broken, no parts, buyback: Fix#92

My new 2025 Ford Lightning Pro came complete with a coolant leak from the coolant valve. Ford Part # MU5Z-8C513-D. The truck has been at the local dealer for 2 months now....... This part is backordered indefinitely.
I have tried everything, filed a case with customer service and just received approval for buyback.
I really like this truck, and I bought a bunch of accessories for it.
I can't find another 2025 Pro and I am incredibly frustrated that this part is not available for a new truck.
The stress is taking a toll on me, especially since I am short a vehicle for our family.
This is a $ 150 part that is keeping a $ 50,000 truck from operating.
I have bought an A version (MU5Z-8C513-A) for this truck, but was told that it is not compatible.
There is also a B and C version apparently and I saw that the installed valve is a MU5Z-8C513-CD.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I checked all the local junkyards and used parts business without success.

If there's no movement from Ford, take the buyback. Use your settlement for a different Lightning on Carvana or look at other manufacturers. Used and a handful of new Lightnings exist, just have to spend time looking.

It’s not ideal, but have you seen the temporary fix method by Martin Rebuilds? Depending on the mode of failure, it may at least get you your vehicle back running while your dealer locate the correct part.

I hope that @Ford Motor Company makes this right, expeditiously. It does not seem that failure of the coolant valve is entirely uncommon. I hope this is not an indicator for future parts availability when issues arise.

This is the kind of stuff that's beyond ridiculous. Ford offers to buy a truck versus paying for the part. That says to me there is no 10 year supply of parts for the Lightning, OR that this isn't going to fix the problem going forward.

Coming from someone that has been on the service side of high line dealerships for the better part of 30 years, this kind of situation is unfortunately now not uncommon. The backup from the Covid era was just barely clearing out, then the war in Ukraine put a hurting on supply chains, now exacerbated by a constantly changing tariff landscape that no one can plan for. Not making excuses, just offering explanations.

This is hopefully where the aftermarket suppliers will start to notice that there is a market.

I sold my 2001 F350 V10 for more than I purchased it to help pay for my Lightning. During my 8 year tenure of ownership of that F350, all of the parts were from aftermarket manufacturers, not Ford parts. I did have to replace the engine, it was a rebuild from Jasper.

My point is that hopefully Bosch, Dorman, etc, will start making some of these ticky tacky parts for our trucks.

I am hearing this more and more - people with Lightnings who need parts that Ford either can't (or won't) supply in a timely manner.

I'm waiting for a part for my truck (which is luckily an add-on) - but holy creepers. What is going on!?

I am wondering how long it will be before we start seeing aftermarket parts. I'm assuming the circuits inside are okay - just the actual valve mechanism that's shot?

Yeap, this is pretty much what I expected from Fords 10 year "commitment". Worth as much as the paper it was written on in my phone.


I.e. there is no paper in my phone that I'm writing this on.....

There seems like there are several problematic parts on the Lightning that have gone through multiple revisions. I’m getting the sense that people at Ford are trying hard to make sure any further revisions fix the ongoing problems and that Ford is unwilling to sell knowingly defective parts. Occasionally that means we don’t have access to replacement parts. Not sure if this is a resource or process issue.
