I’ve seen this movie before.

i remember the introduction of the Lightning. I remember putting down a $100 reservation fee. I remember the “Wave” system of placing your order, not knowing when you could actually place the order for your truck. I remember 4 price increases by the time Ford finally said I could place the order for a Lightning. I remember having to have battery modules replaced on two different occasions, and loosing the use of the truck for two weeks at a time.

A $30-$40k vehicle will be embraced by many here in America. The low cost of operation and small size will be exciting for folks 30-50 years younger than most on the Lightning forum. The current price of EVs in America is crazy. Very exciting news if FORD is able to pull it off.

I hope Fathom is the name of the platform and not the name of the truck variant. My impressions so far say otherwise.

Ford needs to keep their dealers in check to make sure they don't completely ruin this product launch. My initial experience with trying to turn my Lightning reservation into a vehicle in my driveway was 110% unacceptable. The dealer that had my res screwed up. Other dealers that played the "sell it to ourselves so now it is used and can be marked up even more!" were _ridiculous_ in their anti-customer attitudes.

@Ford Motor Company , get your stealerships under control or they will ruin this for you too!

Flat towing an EV is a no-go unless you could decouple the motors from the axles. A $28K vehicle certainly isn't going to add that complexity for what is a niche use-case. And that's before you even think about weight ratings.
