My trial of BlueCruise is about to expire. My driving rarely puts me on “Blue” highways, so I don’t plan to subscribe. However, I am curious as to whether Ford eventually offers promos or discounts if it is clear that you haven’t signed up? I do love it when I can occasionally use.

Also, if I plan to be on a road-trip using a bunch of Blue highways, is it feasible to sign up for only a given month? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I was wondering the same thing. Also: if I don't subscribe, will I have any cruise control functionality at all? I.e., will I retain the hands-on-the-steering-wheel speed-keeping cruise control?

There are sometimes offers but they're few and far between. There have been some members here who have been offered discounts or extensions to their trials. You can sign up for a month if you like as you need.

You will retain the basic adaptive cruise functionality. Will not be hands free but you will have lane keep, speed up/down/stop, low speed follow and other basic capability. Anything related to Bluecruise hands free you will no longer have access to.

I thought you kept lane centering, not just lane keeping - it just isn't hands free.

I would subscribe at that price, but not $50/mo!
They'd need to knock that down even further for me, I seldom get on a hwy where it works, I'd pay $10/mo for the novelty of having it.

I couldn't be bothered to get into detail. To me, lane keep = lane centre since it functionally does pretty much the same thing. If someone wants to go into the fine detail, be my guest. Point is that you keep everything except for the hands free capability.

I had BlueCruise including BC 1.2 on my higher-trim Mach E. I don't have it on my XLT Option 312 Lightning, mainly by my choice because I learned to not ever have a pano / moon glass roof on an electric vehicle (Winter driving = much higher traction battery use to heat cabin which then goes right out thru the glass roof), and that trim choice precluded BlueCruise as an option.

I don't miss BlueCruise at all now, and I've crossed the country coast to coast this Summer in the Lightning. The other driver assistance options on our Lightnings provide about 80% of the BC capability, and for free which is a great price. All it takes is to keep a light 2-finger touch on the steering wheel.

That's my worthless 2 cents

I caved and paid $495 ($41.25 month). I wish I could disable or ease up on the nag screens. It's way more sensative than the Tesla.

BlueCruise should be cheaper so that Ford can learn from the guys who are willing to use it. Ford needs all the data they can get to make it better. My goodness, you would think Ford would appreciate the guys who spent the extra bucks on the Lariat and Platinum enough to just give them BlueCruise.

Personally, I don't trust any of the self driving cars. They have to be correct 100% of the time to keep you safe. I work with control systems. I've seen the smallest sensor failure cause the biggest problems and cost companies millions of dollars. I certainly don't trust these relatively new systems to protect my life when I don't have to do so. I do like the driver assist features....

To be fair, it doesn't have to be perfect - just better than a human who are pretty flawed drivers.

This is correct. The only difference between blue cruise and not blue cruise is the warnings to keep your hands on the wheel / need to provide steering input.
