2025 Lightning + OEM Jack kit?

I went out and measured mine today. Ford punched arrow shaped holes in the frame rails pointing to the jacking points. The front jack point was 12" off the ground. The rear jack point was 13.5" off the ground. The distance from the ground to the bottom of the wheel on a 20" tire is 4.75" if you run the tire off the rim. So a flat tire would lower the jack point from 4.75" to maybe 3" if there is 2" of flat tire in between the wheel and the ground. That gives you about 7" to 9" of jack height for a front flat to get the jack in there. Awful close for a bottle jack and it depends upon how even the ground is where the flat tire occurs which is never in a nice place.

I have this & a 120VAC to 12VDC power supply (ALITOVE AC to DC Converter 110V to 12V 30A 360W Pro Max) Used it Twice. Fits behind back seat. I bought it when I noticed the OEM jack does not work well under the Lightning’s weight.

Just looked at that. 12 volt only, 15 ton, for $200. Goes from 8" with top portion screwed in to 20" with top portion screwed out. That is about 12" of rise and maybe 1/3 or 4" of that is the screwed out portion. However it is impossible to screw it out while lifting at the same time so the effective height is starting at 8" to 12" plus another additional 8" of lift for a total of 16" to 20" off the ground from the starting point.

I think their ad is very misleading when it tells you it goes from 8" to 20.29" suggesting you get 12.29" of rise but someone who knows jacks who looks close at the picture can see it.

That said, I could use an electric 10 to 20 ton jack that was dual 12 volt/120 volt. Bluetooth or wired remote would be a plus.

You are probably very correct that these and any other scissor jack wouldn't be very trustworthy to handle the weight of a Lightning or any vehicle of that size particularly the higher it gets off the ground and the narrowness of the base. If the other tires aren't blocked to avoid just a little rolling or parked on a sloped surface, or you, a passenger, or someone else bumps the pickup, etc., while changing a tire, look out. I recently did a front brake job on the Expedition and had it fall off of two jacks on plywood on muddy ground just as I had one tire half way stuck onto the lugs while trying to rotate the tires when done. Not fun. Kids, don't try that at home, only idiots who think they are experts at everything, like me, would do such a thing.

I use it with a 1 foot 2x8 on the ground. Works fine for flats. I was not intending for it to replace my floor jack. I could not find a 120V jack. Please let me know what your search finds. Here is a pic in use and stored behind the back seat passenger side.

Just to close out, ended up buying this part: NL3Z17080C

I had a bunch of ford pass points so it was pretty cheap. I called my local dealer and confirmed this is exactly what I was looking for.

It makes sense to use the ford pass points, but why not a bottle jack from ford?

I would never trust a bottle jack while my body parts are under a heavy vehicle. Hydraulics can and do fail without warning.

OK, when I change a flat tire, I don't put any body parts under the truck, do you?
And that oem jack is SO sturdy, perhaps you will crawl underneath and take a nap?

If you used the OEM jack to lift the Lightning, you would never use the term "sturdy". I owned an F-150 for 10 years, and the jack was fine. The same jack strains with the Lightning lifted, and that's on a flat concrete garage floor. I would be hesitant to use it on a rough shoulder.

I agree with you 100% Rick, the word "sturdy" was sarcasm, but evidently, some folks think it is preferred over "hydraulics"

Some folks are trained Army Armor tankers who have seen hydraulics fail and crush men. Like, that 1.5 ton cannon which looks very reliably sturdy until its hydraulics give out.

You'd think those experts could change a tire on a pickup without putting body parts underneath the vehicle.

While I was just a teen, my uncle was a navy machinist / diesel mechanic / made stuff work after his retirement from the Navy he worked for a heavy equipment company that needed work done on a dump truck, this was moonlight work in our driveway, he had the driver of the truck with him to help with what ever needed servicing.

They had the trucks dump body lifted to perform what needed doing, there was no safety blocking to minimize risks, I don't think it was service on the hydraulic lifting system itself, but out of the blue a critical line failed and the driver was crushed to death, that was a horrible day for my uncle!

Having learned from that lesson, I totally respect the power and vulnerability of any type of lift, be it mechanical screw & lever, hydraulic or air!! I've had old hydraulic floor jacks with weak seals bleed down fast, wasn't worth servicing left for the junk man to take away once I bought a capable replacement.

Respect your tools and understand the safety rules when performing any service.

You'll also need the other 2 pieces if you want to mount it like oem. #8 and 4 I believe.
