Anyone have dealership access to the IRS portal? (i.e., do you work at a dealer)

As in the title, does anyone here have dealership access to the IRS portal? (i.e., do you work at a dealer)

My dealer isn't being helpful (and wasn't from the get go) about getting my truck into the IRS portal. They claimed they keep checking for me, but we all know as soon as they got my money they don't care anymore. I've called them a few times over the last couple months and get the same old story.

I'm wondering if someone can "test" the portal for me and see if my VIN has been put in the backend yet. From what I saw, it gets entered on the first page, they clicked next, and then got an error.

Would someone here be willing to try for me if I PM you my VIN?

Worth a shot.

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have access to what your seeking, but the bigger question is, why would a 2025 Lariat not qualify?

Was the Factory built price (MSRP before transportation fee) greater than $80,000 on your monroney sticker? That would be the reason it's not listed as a qualified unit.

I asked the same thing of the dealer, over and over.

MSRP on the sticker was just under the $80,000 limit.

My understanding, and I think I posted this in my other thread, was that Ford hadn't gotten the new 2025s approved by the DoE and into the IRS portal.

Ford sent out a notice to dealers telling them NOT to sell 2025 Lightning Lariat Extended Range trucks if the buyer wanted the Federal Credit/rebate. I didn't find out about this notice until after I completed the purchase (another user here responded to my thread about it); the dealer told me I could apply for it later.

I'm still hoping it has, or will, get into the system and that I could (somehow) get the dealer to backdate it and claim the credit when I file.

I may ask my local dealer Tuesday when I bring it in for the Brake Boost recall software update.

I wouldn't worry over it and just file when time comes. All they can do is say not qualified and reduce the credit I would think. Which would suck but not the end of the world.

They will deny the request for credit on a paper return, we've got an example of that already.

FWIW - I tried to escalate this to Ford via Twitter/X and Customer Service. In both cases I was not given any help or assistance in getting this resolved.
Never hurts to be thorn in the corporate side, might be the problem resolution is still being worked on.

What all models does this affect? When I asked about the credit on delivery they said just fill out the 1040. MSRP on my truck was just over 72k, actual cost 61k.

They're REQUIRED to report the qualified sale regardless of you or any buyer electing to transfer the credit to the selling dealer, this is where failures are happening, either because of incompetent dealers F&I staff or willful negligence of procedures (There should be a civil penalty for this non-compliance), or technical glitch where FORD MOTOR COMPANY data processing neglected to transmit the qualified VIN's to the federal database. (THIS is what needs fixing ASAP), the other problems are buyer controllable, DO NOT BUY from shiftless dealerships!!

I'm not sure how that answers my question in what qualifies a vehicle for the credit. I thought there was a price limit. I leased my truck, not an outright purchase.

80K is the value cut off, but Ford has intentionally NOT included PRO models this year.
Otherwise all other trims (XLT, FLASH, LARIAT) should qualify unless the truck has factory options "as built" pushing the value above the 80K MSRP (EXC TRANSPORT FEE), given the MSRP of Platinum's they just don't qualify.

I must be behind the times. I thought the Lightning didnt qualify anymore due to battery material sourcing considerations.

The Lightning still qualifies, but with the prior rules being squashed on 9/30/2025, the percentage materials and manufacturing phase out rules are no longer in play for future years.

What's baffling here is WHY Ford didn't register specific Lightnings in 2025 for the tax credit, and IF they are going to remedy that. Their silence on the matter is disturbing.

Leasing a vehicle means the tax credit goes to Ford, not you. Your residual was adjusted upwards by $7,500, which decreased your lease payments.

The limit for a purchased vehicle is $80,000, not including destination and delivery fees.
